Stayed overnight with friends for the New Year Medevil Banquet, from the moment we arrived I was impressed with the friendly efficient staff..The Banquet was great fun from start to finish with the New Year pipped in and then fireworks. We also got, which I thought was a lovely touch and very unexpected, was a little puter goblet (think they're used for whiskey) the following morning. Would recommend to family and friends.

We stayed at Coombe Abbey for New Years Eve and what a fantastic time we had. Check in easy and had a room in park priory. Room was large with everything we needed, including the best shower i have every had. We were part of the medieval Banquet which was brilliant, lots of eating, drinking and being very merry HUZZAH. The show was fun and would like to thank all involved for entertaining us. The piper and fireworks were a great way to see out 2013 and go into 2014. A great night sleep was followed by a lovely buffet brunch. Can wait to go back for another of the events.

Seen this hotel on a website and fell in love with the place.
Driving down I was panicking incase it didn't match up to my expectations.
On arrival it matched them and more. From the walk from the car park over the moat this is a beautiful hotel, then you enter the inside of this fabulous place it only gets better.
We booked a grand feature room (no2) and we're glad we did. The room had an amazing four poster bed , beautifully decorated and the little extras made it even more special.
Words can't describe the beauty and feel of this hotel, you have to experience it you self.
The staff, food and the whole stay is definitely a 10/10
Can't wait to go back

I booked the Friday Getaway for £209 for the first Friday after Christmas as respite from the busy Christmas period. I'd also purchased an afternoon tea from Buy a Gift and so made use of this as well.

We arrived and headed for the Garden Room Restaurant and had a leisurely afternoon tea which was lovely - we had tea & coffee served in pots (although the tea was a little weak and had to take a while to stew). The sandwiches were cheese and pickle, chicken mayonnaise and salmon. The cakes were scones with jam and cream, mini eton mess, mince pies, mini chocolate logs and stolen. I must admit the best ones were the Eton mess and scones - the rest were not so much to my liking and too much christmas already! It was very pleasant and the staff were very attentive and welcoming.

We went to check in for our overnight stay and were told that the room we had originally booked (room 229 - four poster) was directly above one of the wedding receptions and were asked if we would like to move. We were offered an upgrade to room 257, Juliette Suite and of course we said yes please!

The room was gorgeous, it had a large four poster and the bathroom was via a stairwell almost in a turret - we had complementary robes to use if we wanted. It was a fantastic room and would certainly recommend it.

Our Friday Getaway deal included dinner and so we had a lovely three course meal in the evening - it was delicious, and the time just flew by. It was lovely to have a nice meal in peace and quiet and the wedding parties did not impact at all on the stay or during dinner.

The breakfast was also delicious - the usual choices of cereals, juices, toast, fruits etc as well as the hot full English which was self service and so you could choose what you wanted.

We would definitely stay again - the one night felt like a weekend and we left relaxed, refreshed and ready for the New Year.

One thing, not negative, but to be aware of - the hotel is very dark! Lots of dim lighting so watch your step in places! We'd like to visit again in the summer so that we can really enjoy the outside as well as the inside next time.

Also, it was very warm! They certainly don't scrimp on the heating. Take your T shirt/short sleeves!

Room Tip: Room 257 - The Juliette Suite is gorgeous - spacious, four poster and roll top bath. Just be aware that the access to the bathroom is up several steps.

Seventeen of us, ranging from 2 to 74 years had a special Christmas lunch, and 2 couples stayed overnight. The separate dining room, Kellaway, gave us the privacy and relaxed atmosphere , desirable for a chatty family group. Service was excellent at all stages, - on arrival, at the meal and afterwards. The staff were unfailingly polite and courteous. Room service in the evening was slow but the hotel was exceptionally busy, with three weddings taking place on that day. Despite the plethora of wedding guests and attendant photography, the abundance of cosy corners and multiple atmospheric corridors allowed us to feel relaxed at all times. The family (living locally) came back for coffee on Sunday morning, with offspring in attendance, such was the attraction of the place. There is also a children's playground in the adjacent country park for running-off steam.

We were agreeably surprised by the good quality of the food which we had feared might have a corporate feel, but all guests seemed to think their food good. Coombe Abbey Hotel is a higher priced hotel for the Midlands, but we felt good value for a special occasion. As with many establishments. it's the extras (e.g. drinks from the bar) which bump up the cost.

We had a perfectly pleasant standard double, the attractive décor in tune and taste with the "abbey feel". I missed a make-up mirror, as the only good light was in the bathroom where there was nowhere to keep make-up bags. Our daughter also had the same niggle about her room, plus no conditioner! She and her husband were moved at the hotel's direction from their special room with roll-top bath, apparently because they would be next to a "noisy wedding party". (Surely this was known when they booked three weeks previously?) We had booked our room in March when making the overall booking. They were disappointed with the small size of their room which they felt was in no way "special" and probably further annoyed because they paid more for their room and we did for our larger one on the same floor. Still. We were very happy in our room, very comfortable large bed and excellent TV.

We have no regrets or complaints about our stay. We enjoyed all aspects and recommend it for a special occasion. Just save up!

Room Tip: be specific about the type of room being booked and check the price
