“Crappy Dining Experience/Beautiful Accommodation”
Reviewed 12 June 2014 via mobile

Breakfast/Dining experience was awful. Staff were slow to respond to requests and ignored us while waiting more than 15 minutes to be seated. Food served did not reflect it's 5 star rating. I've had better dining experiences at lower rated hotels than here. Oh, and their Wifi is slow and doesn't work. It's a beautiful hotel, rooms are clean, front office are helpful but I would not come here again.Dining is an essential part of my stay, there are no near restaurants nearby and the crappy dining experience ensured that I won't be coming back again.

My partner booked a one night stay at Coombe Abbey as a surprise and it was a wonderful stay. The hotel is traditional but quirky with an eclectic collection of artefacts and decorated to create a wonderful atmosphere.

The food and wine was delicious and the dining room a fun experience, we ate in one of two Gazebos which felt very private and fun too. The waiting staff were very friendly and helpful which added to the lovely experience.

Our room had a lovely view and large four poster bed which was a dream to sleep in. The bathroom was well stock with lovely toiletries, fluffy towels and robes with a large roll top bath.

I would definitely recommend and would love to stay again.

This hotel is a cross between Hogwarts and Disney's Tower of Terror Hotel. Having read the reviews we were really looking forward to our stay and I am glad to say we weren't disappointed. Yes the whole atmosphere is dark and foreboding but it suited the hotel perfectly. It was like stepping back in time. Situated next to Coombe country park, with its amazing walks and gardens, was a bit of escapism from the hectic pace of life today. We were only due to stay 1 night, but added an extra night as it was so relaxing. Our crown double room over looked the front courtyard and we fell asleep to the sound of the birds singing and the trickle of water from the fountain below our window. Food was good and the staff friendly and helpful. Will definitely be staying here again.

Took my mum for a treat, and at almost £19 each expected so much better. Sandwiches were ok, but very simply put together. Tea was a refilled pot with a twinnings bag from a paper wrapper, cakes were very clearly pre-manufactured and defrosted Icelandesque desserts. Not impressed and only plus was the venue.

In early May my sis and I went to Coombe Abbey to enjoy the Sunday Couple promotion. We travel from London to Coventry station and then took a taxi to CA. The cost for one way transfer is GBP 13.60. We choose the Crown Bedchambers (twin room) and we love it so so much and wish we can stay for another night. The bed was really good that we actually have to peel ourselves from the bed in order not to miss breakfast. The staff as the Garden Room Restaurant are very helpful both during dinner and breakfast as we’re not very familiar with the dish. The hotel surrounding is as beautiful as in the photo and I took so much photo. The next day before we depart we get Mr. Sam to show us around the hotel rooms and function rooms. Actually I requested to see the medieval banquet hall but he was so kind to show us around. THANK YOU VERY MUCH Mr. SAM.

As a fan of Historical Romance book and History itself, I feel very grateful that I get to stay at Coombe Abbey as the price is affordable. We will 100% return again and next time will make sure we stay at least for 2 night.

Booked the Sunday overnight deal. Arrived early and our room was ready for us. Dim lighting throughout creates a dark, cold atmosphere to go with the theme. Although this made the bedrooms feel a bit dark. Not sure if the rooms were dated or if the decor was meant to be old fashioned and old. Room overlooked a marquee which was a shame and the fireworks kept us awake but lucky enough didn't wake our 1 year old who was fast asleep. No hot water in the morning which was a bit annoying, came back from breakfast and it finally kicked in. Bit too late though! Good breakfast with plenty of choice. Didn't expect a buffet, thought it would be more traditional waiter service. Some snotty guest staying in the hotel at the time who looked horrified when we went down to breakfast with our son. Perhaps they thought the breakfast room was adults only. Overall not too bad, not sure it should be a 4 star though!
