“needs a refurb”
Reviewed 24 July 2014

Staff were very friendly however the hotel is very run down and in dire need of redecorating. The room was clean but the wallpaper had marks on it and was peeling off around the windows. The window frames were black and needed a good clean.
They say a carvery but the was only turkey available, new potaoes boiled then friend (roasts) rice and mixed veg. The desserts looked and tasted like they were value range from a supermarket.

Room Tip: Front of hotel faces a busy road

On a two-day trip with Travelstyle I stayed here for the second time this year. The exterior I agree would not win any architectural prizes but inside it was fine. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is varied and plentiful. The bedroom and bathroom was clean and the bed very comfortable. I certainly would have no hesitation in staying here again.

When we pulled up to the hotel I was shocked by the exterior !!
But once we got inside I was plesently surprised the rooms are very clean and comfortable we had a great nights sleep breakfast was lovely plenty of choice and very tasty. Evening meal was a three corse carvary very nice indeed plenty of choice .. The bar staff and the waiting staff were all very friendly .people need to remember this is a budget hotel and although it could do with a face lift it was excellent value for money I would go back .

The only thing that would brighten this place up would be a match!

Pulling up to this hotel was an experience in itself. I thought we arrived at the wrong place and we had to double check the sat-nav to make sure! Very grey and drab outside and did not make a great first impression.

At check-in, we couldn't believe our eyes that they were actually selling boxes of fudge with a picture on the hotel on it! Who in their right mind would buy that?! The workers at the desk were very polite and efficient. When we first arrived, one of the guests in the lift told us that the hotel looked like a backdrop to an Eastern European spy film(!)

The rooms were surprisingly OK compared to the rest of the hotel. Comfortable beds and powerful shower. The TV was almost older than me but it had 4 channels from what I can remember. Had a good night sleep here.

The food itself was actually not as bad as we were anticipating. Choice of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes as well as soups and salad. For dessert there was ice cream and tinned fruit. At breakfast was basic English fry up, cereal, tinned fruit, toast and yoghurt. Had vegetarian sausages at the counter too which was nice to see.

The staff members were young and I don't think that they deserve the slack that they get. It's not their fault that this hotel is so run down.

In conclusion, staying at this hotel is definitely an experience that I will always remember and not necessarily for the right reasons. Desperate need of updating and brightening up but do not blame the young staff it's not their fault.

Room Tip: If you HAVE to stay here, ask to go higher up in the hotel so you'll hear less traffic noise and...

while traveling on the coach towards my holiday we where told the name of our hotel, the Coventry hill hotel and a usual i looked it up on the internet and if i had been sat at home i would have cancelled my holiday as the reviews i found where of a hotel full of damp wallpaper falling of the walls and ripped and torn furniture in all the rooms, so i was not looking forward to arriving.
when the coach pulled up to the hotel the pictures on the review seemed to be accurate , a tired looking building with dirty window but i was pleasantly surprised when i entered the reception it was clean with the exception of a display case that hadent seen a duster in a very long time, the staff where pleasant after getting my room key i joined the long line for the lift as one of them was broke we had to wait a while to get on one of the others.
the room itself was clean except for the window which look like they haven't been washed in years.
the food was fine but i got the impression that the waiters where under staffed as every thing seemed to be left to one young man ,from keeping the food topped up to clearing all the tables for approximately 150 guests in this particular dining room.
so to summarize the Coventry hill hotel is a tired and dated hotel but it is clean and comfortable and for the price they charge you get what you pay for.

Room Tip: wifi was free but only avalible downstairs due to the strength of the signal

We were booked into this hotel with Travelstyle as part of a stop-over doing the Cosford Air Museum & RAF Fairford Airshow weekend. The reviews I've read don't in any way apply to the experience me and my wife had at this weekend break. I'll admit the appearance of the hotel from outside doesn't look too inviting but we didn't find anything on the inside other than a needing a little bit of TLC (which is very costly for a hotel of this size). We were in room 507, and another couple we met up with had room 509 and both of us were very impressed with the rooms cleanliness and comfort. The meals both at dinner (carvery) and breakfast were very good quality and there was plenty of it. The bar was pub prices (£2.20 for Tetley) and a good pint it was too. Staff were very friendly and professional in the service they offered, and all in all we had a good experience at this hotel. Again I would like to thank Alan our driver who was under immense pressure travelling down on the Saturday as the air conditioner in his coach packed up and he was working until ten in the evening trying to fix it before he gave up the ghost and sent out for another coach for the Sundays trip to Fairford.
