I am so disappointed with this hotel.
Worst ever
Freezing cold room. 4deg at 9am and 6deg at 11am
The whole place was freezing
Got there around 8pm, cold.
Broken bathroom door
Old tv on the room
Anyway, I wrote to the hotel and had the worst apology ever.
Will not and never book there again
They should refund all their clients who were there that week-end. Being in a hotel with such low temperature is highly unacceptable and truly disgusting! And I certainly did not pay for that!!!

Room Tip: don'y book there is my only tip

Went on a cheap and cheerful Majestic break and while not expecting the Ritz I did expect better from a hotel.

To start with our room was on 7th floor and on entering the room had a strong smell of nicotine which despite opening the windows did not clear and the net curtains were yellow with what looked like nicotine. As both my partner and I are asthmatics we tried to find someone on reception to ask for a change in room but no-one seemed to be on Reception whenever we went to ask. The hotel itself looked like it was in dire need of modernisation! The rooms were pretty basic - you get what you pay for and apart from the smell it served it's purpose. We were told by another guest that the 7th rooms are for smokers - I wasn't aware that smoking is still allowed in public buildings?

Our evening meal was at the 8pm slot so we decided to go down and have a drink at the bar which was offering 99p drinks until 9pm. It was like a cattle market! Two bar staff and they were expected to serve us all as well as collect and wash glasses. It took 20 minutes for us to be served because the staff didn't know who had waited there the longest and one poor girl serving rushed out in tears. It was only then that management decided to get involved and help! The evening meal was leftovers from the earlier dining slots and we felt sorry for the restaurant staff who were very apologetic and explained that the hotel were catering for 6 coachloads of people that weekend.

Breakfast wasn't bad at all both mornings, again with very pleasant staff who were extremely helpful and apologetic if something wasn't available. We went to the local Wetherspoons for our following evening meal so that we could eat earlier and know there was food available!

I wouldn't go back there, but the restaurant staff and their friendliness did make mealtimes a lot more pleasant than they could have been. One couple at the hotel told us that a member of management had said that upstairs they offer a "Silver service" so don't really care about the coachloads of people going. Judging by our experience this is believable, but still, a guest is a guest no matter how much they pay. All in all the hotel did need modernising and a bit more organisation when knowing that their hotel will be fully booked. I'm not a person who usually complains but on this occasion I did feel disappointed.

Room Tip: If you're a non-smoker, avoid the 7th floor!!!

We went on a Majestic coach holiday and stayed at this hotel, for what we paid it was ok water was hot food ok right in the town , room was lg had tea and coffe etc and a trouser press. The other side is, if i had gone to this hotel and paid full prices I would have left again ,bed room looks ok when go in old but tidy, but when you look around bath panel need a good clean or tho out and replaces, sink was cracked ,bed could fell all springs, as room on 4 th floor and bus park and main road below, allso people catching coaches and out sid smokimg very noise , when we looked at our window at some time doubl glazing had been put in , but was now missing and just the fram there, when asked at recaption told they did not no it was missing may be taken out if been broken, said could not move us as full, On the fri night went down for dinner lg que staff did not seem to no what they were doning , given a menu but said pork for main meal but time we got ours all gone (alltho given gammon witch was nices) Starter soup did not look good tuner and prawn was gone we asked for it after waiting at least 15 mins they brought some out miners the prawn said run out. Breakfest next morning was ok but over cooked food , no entertament in evening first night we found a room up stairs doning bingo but waited a good half hour after tickets sold as he could not sort out money . bar very small and had dos on and only one bar so hard to get served, second night had some one trying to sing in bar but not good, we walked down to weatherspoons and had a drink there much better.
This hotel needs a good clean better staff and a make over , I no to do this would cost , that is why they have coach partys in as no one would pay full amount , but at least grt staff who can do a good job and if nices and clean when you went in to your rooms and things like windows in good condition you would accepet it was a old hotel and need work.

i know my trip was only for 2 nights but this hotel was terrible, meals were passable if you were on early sittings, later sittings had to make do with what is left, all self service and staff not at all helpful if you dare to ask for anything to be replaced when used up. facilities awful in dire need of refurbishment, entertainment is 2 blue coats playing one game of bingo, a quiz, and playing c.d.'s. other guest had booked for turkey and tinsel breaks and had to ask for decorations to be brought in as there were non. seem's to cater more for workmen looking for a cheap place to stay while working in the area.

Having stayed in some 8-10 Britannia Hotels in the past we have always thought of them as a safe bet if you don't know the area. What a mistake we made with this one.
We arrived with on one on reception the duty manage?? suddenly appeared from behind a partition with the comment somebody will be here soon.
After waiting about 5 Minutes a lady appeared with the comment I'm going off duty but I'll book you in, Should have turned round then and found an other Hotel.
The room was adequate but in need of a complete refurbishment .
Went to the bar and found that the young lady behind the bar was prepared to do the managers job and sort out several things . the manager came into the bar and the lady told him that I would like a word.,but think he had taken a course in Teflon Management.
The staff in the Restaurant? ( see Photos ) tried there best but were fighting a loosing battle.Concussion avoid this hotel unless desperate.

Room Tip: Don't book this Hotel

Stayed for 2 nights for a Christmas party and generally for the money this hotel is ok. The whole hotel could really do with a good spring clean as it looks shabby. Our room was ok, spacious, clean bedding, towels, bathroom and surfaces. The window sill between the double glazing was dirty and the edges of the carpet needed a good vacuming. There were missing light bulbs, the panel on the bathroom light was dirty as was the fan. There appears just not enough staff, only one person on Reception, not enough bar staff and I felt sorry for the restaurant staff at breakfast they were run off their feet. Badly written hand notices on a flip chart in Reception are not professional. Friday night entertainment in the bar was a bit of good fun. Breakfast was good but so disorganised, no one keeping an eye out for things getting low etc Meal at our function was terrible, the waiting staff looked scruffy and didn't appear to know how to serve one had her fingers inside a bowl and was handing dishes around the table. Ground floor toilets were clean but so badly in need of refurbishment.
The hotel was full and very busy, badly organised, not enough staff and very tired. A bit of a refurb and a good scrub right through would make such a difference.

I stayed at this hotel on the weekend of 22nd Nov with a group of 12 friends as part of a Majestic tour.. I read these reviews on here and was apprehensive to say the least, but thought we would make the best of it. I have to say the hotel was not as bad as i expected, our rooms were on the 3rd floor, and were adequate, clean and roomy. We had a full size kettle with tea and coffee, a proper hairdryer and trouser press, and a tv. The bathroom was clean and the shower hot. The food was fine, the service was hectic especially the friday evening, the breakfast was fine too. We couldnt take advantage of the Happy 3 hrs in the bar, as there was nowhere to sit, but we didnt mind as there was a Sainsburys next door, so we stocked up and had drinks in our room. Our whole trip including coach travel, bed, breakfast and evenng meal for 2 nights was only £79 and I would say we have excellant value for money. I travel alot and am used to staying in 5 star resorts and hotels, and whilst this hotel is definately not 5 star it is more than adequate for a weekend stay as part of a package.
