Owner description: If you're looking for a fantastic FREE day out for all the family, you can't beat Coventry Transport Museum. In the heart of Coventry city centre, this huge Museum is home to the world's largest collection of British road transport, and a visit whisks you away into a world of stories of real people, real passions and real hope. You'll discover the stories behind the people who made Coventry the centre of the world's motor and cycle industries, and get up close and personal with the actual vehicles that defined some of history's most important moments. The Museum is laid out as a journey through time - you'll wander 19th Century streets and discover the first bicycles, carriages and cars, then explore the first car factories and gasp as you witness their wartime destruction in the Blitz Experience. The journey continues through the Boomtown, Spirit of Speed and Ghost Town galleries to bring you right up to the present day.A visit to the Museum brings you face to face with Royal cars, military vehicles, and cars that played vital parts in their drivers' life stories - none more so than the current Land Speed Record holding vehicle, ThrustSSC, which lives at the Museum. Not only can you marvel at this spectacular piece of British engineering, you can experience for yourself what it's like to travel through the sound barrier at over 760mph in the ThrustSSC Simulator. ***Please Note*** Coventry Transport Museum is undergoing a major redevelopment programme during 2014 and the early part of 2015. The Museum remains open throughout this work but you are advised to check the Museum's website to see how your visit may be affected.***

“Very Interesting Museum”
Reviewed 30 August 2014

The museum was excellent. It was great to see all the cars and how they have developed over the years. Love the way some of the museum is set out and in the time that was relevant to the cars with shop fronts, bars etc, a little like Flambards in Cornwall. The sound effects for the blitz area were a little disappointing. Waited to watch them as someone said they were good. Nice coffee shop on site providing not and cold food and drinks.

“A good free museum.”
Reviewed 30 August 2014

This museum is free to go in and has a good collection of cars to see. The children did a trail (£1.50 - prize is a sticker!) and also a craft activity (which was rather easy)
I enjoyed the museum but had to note that the lady on reception seemed VERY disinterested (29 Aug 14 - Approx 12.45 PM) She seemed busy, looked up and said "just go on" - hardly a welcome or informative whatsoever!
The lady on the trail desk was much more informative and chatty.
Had a good couple of hours here with all the bikers in leather! (outside the museum had maybe 50 motorbikes from throughout Europe parked outside)
Worthy of a visit but (lady on the front desk!) a smile costs nothing!

Brilliant museum of motoring history, with lots of interesting vehicle exhibits from the beginning of the motor car to present day. Well laid out, informative, and free!

The museum was having some work done which when its done will be great . So unfortunately quite a few bits of were cordened off. Especially the motorbikes which was disappointing. Girls did enjoy doing the scavenger hunt . The new bit with the jags was a delight to see .
Can't wait to see it when its finished

This was a great morning out and one of the most interesting and well thought out museums. The attention to detail was good and although some of the exhibits were being refurbished this was not a huge problem.
