Review of War Memorial Park

War Memorial Park

These days I usually go to the Memorial Park to walk a few laps. It is a very pleasant walk, with different gradients, and some parts are wide open spaces, and some are covered over by trees. Not much else to say, except that sometimes dog walkers do not follow the rules, and they have recently installed equipment in the park if you wanted to do other exercises other than walking or running. If the park is busy (like on Bank Holidays), don't bother going, it will be very difficult parking.

When I was a kid, I would regularly come here for picnics and I even went to the Remembrance Sunday service a few times. It is nice to walk around looking at the plaques at the bases of the trees, and remembering those who have fallen fighting in both World Wars. The Pavilion Cafe is a nice spot to have a coffee and cake.

Overall, it is a great park for families, friends or even solo outings. Just for the walking alone, I highly recommend this park as a place to go.

9th July 2017. Husband and I went to The Godiva Festival today. What a great surprise! It was held in Coventry's War Memorial park, a spacious setting with lovely water features and play park for the children. Free parking at the park and free entry to the Festival. There was an interesting selection of attractions with crafts and stalls selling unique items. Plenty off food and drink to purchase, to suit all tastes and a large fun fair with exciting rides and spectacular circus acts. There were animals and birds and reptiles and opportunities to join in with the drumming workshop, pottery and art.

There was entertainment of all types and music of different genres on several stages. The bands playing Ska with it's popularity well established in Coventry, went down very well with the crowd. I would certainly recommend the Godiva Festival and I will be returning myself, next year. Well done Coventry!

One of many well kept and large gardens/park in the UK. With tennis courts, skate board park, walking paths and expansive greens, there is something for everyone. In the summer they even offer free golf lessons. Enjoy.

Free parking but does get busy. We went early as the weather promised to be hot. Lovely walks or bike rides with plenty of shaded areas and plenty of seating plus good grass areas. Ideal for picnics. Has cafes and toilets. Also has play area as well as play fountains so take children a costume. There are tennis courts, although you need to book, as well as a pitch and putt. Could easily spend the day here. Dogs can be walked and there are guides to where they must be on a lead.
