Stayed 7th and 8th December 2013 on a Bed, Breakfast and Evening Meal deal.

Check in was first class.

Our room was in one of the chalets. Clean, modern and well serviced, with the advantage of car parking directly outside the room.

Perhaps the downside for some people, would be, going outside to get to the main building for the bar and restaurant. Not a pleasant walk if it was raining.

The bar area is large and does serve food if you are not using the restaurant. The actual bar itself, although clean, is very uninviting, and on the Saturday night we stayed, due to lots of functions, there was a long queue, and initially, only one person serving.

Restaurant is a large room with lots of windows overlooking the golf course and main road. It is obvious, that having no curtains, it can get chilly in really cold weather, and to supplement the central heating they have portable electric radiators dotted around.

The evening menu is short, but very well presented and cooked. If fact, some of the best food we have eaten out in a long time, so praise to Kyle and Steve the chefs. Although some of the sauces tried, were a little heavy on the salt content. But that is a personal opinion.

Add to that, the delightful Nikki, our evening waitress, the evening meal was thoroughly enjoyable.

Now we come to breakfast. Lots of people staying overnight Saturday, so Sunday breakfast was self service. It was good, plentiful and what you needed.

Monday was a different story. Not many for breakfast, so no self service, breakfast was cooked to order. Only around 10 people in the restaurant. Waitress took my order, then just ignored me for the next 25 mins. Asked, where my breakfast was, to have her then disappear in to the kitchen. 5 mins later she is back to tell me they had lost the order. So she had her pad out to take the order again. Bare in mind, there were only around 10 other people in the restaurant, not only had they lost my order, she couldn't even remember what I had ordered. By then, time was getting tight, told her I wanted to see the manager. Manager apologetic, took the breakfast charge off my bill, but due to time, I got no breakfast ……. Breakfast waiting staff badly let down the hotel.

During a recent stay for conference at this hotel we were very impressed by the quality of the food. All meals were delicious, beautifully presented, buffet meals had a good choice, in addition, all food was hot and served on hot plates even during a dinner for in excess of 100 people. Congratulations to chefs Steve and Mike for their well run kitchen.
Hotel decor was clean and well maintained throughout, staff were friendly, in particular the maitre d' who went out of his way to make guests feel welcome and that they all had a good dining experience
We would certainly use this hotel again.

Room Tip: Located near a busy road so if you require a quiet nights sleep perhaps opt for a room in the main h...

Stayed at this hotel for a Ball, have to say the event was extremely well organised from start to finish. Arrived and as I had missed afternoon tea due to traffic, I was bought a sandwich and tea to my room, just what I needed.
The food on the evening was fab, so hot (a rare occurrence when attending previous functions at other hotels) and a very tasty Veggie option was provided.
Great live music and Dj.
However the real stars of my stay were the staff, so very friendly and happy to go over and above expectations, special thanks to Sophie and Rachel for their excellently planned event and to the lovely Breakfast waitress and Todd who ensured I had freshly cooked Veggie sausages in the morning after a very strenuous night!

Our Company used this hotel 19th November 2013, whilst attending an annual conference. We had booked 11 bedrooms and a meeting room on the 19th November and we would like to point out the following:

Firstly , their conference manager was efficent and helpful and apart from the meeting room being very cold upon arrival and we had to ask for member of staff to switch on the heating, this part of our stay was good including lunch and refreshments.

However, all of our team found, upon checking in after the meeting (between 5-6pm), the reception staff to be very terse and unwelcoming. Also later on the bar staff were found to be rude and seemed to be pre-occupied talking to other people and not serving customers.

Some rooms were very small and others too big for one person and this could have been better planned

We had booked the dining room for evening meal, but this room was freezing and very uncomfortable to stay in. Staff were asked about the heating and we were told the radiators were on and there was nothing else that could be done. Our MD requested some pre meal nibbles to eat to try and warm up, but all they were offered was olives. The lack of encouragement to eat there led our MD to take the decision to eat elsewhere and therefore we ate out.

All in all our stay at the Windmill Village was not successful and as such we will not be booking again next year. We feel the service we received did not reflect the price we paid.

well what can you say, from the start at check to check out it was one of the most efficient and well organised affairs as a group we have ever been to. the afternoon served in the Cellar Bar was wonderful, lemon cake to die for. our welcome into the Windmill Suite at the start of the evening was just lovely, beautifully decorated tables, a chocolate fountain and champagne reception. we were served our dinner on exceptionally hot plates and the food was out of this world (compliments to the catering staff). we were entertained by a live band followed by a disco. organisation was key on this evening and our thanks go to Rachel and Sophie who couldn't have handled it any better. would be pleased to go again.
