“Good DB&B deal through great little breaks”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 June 2014 via mobile

We had a lovely stay at the Windmill Village, however we thought the drinks were extortionate at £4.90 for a gin and tonic (single!). My friend ordered a pork baguette from the bar which she sent back as it was totally tasteless - they refunded her. Garlic bread and cheesy chips were good.

We enjoyed the evening meal and the braised beef was totally delicious but there could have been more veg and more than one potato croquette. Pear crumble was equally delicious. Top marks - just wanted more!

We went to bed around midnight and found the bed to be very soft and quite uncomfortable. Our friends said their bed was comfy so maybe we were just unlucky. We were rudely awoken by a fire alarm around 2.30am which was unfortunate - apparently someone was smoking in their room and it went off 4 times! The room was so hot I ended up leaving the balcony door wide open after I was woken up.

We went to the spa in the morning and Paige was lovely and I had a great massage and pedicure followed by a delicious breakfast after which we departed. The prices at the spa were reasonable and well worth the money.

For what we paid we were happy with our stay but had we paid a lot more I may have been disappointed.

Our husbands enjoyed the golf course which was right outside the hotel and we watched them tee off from the bar (especially my husband as he won!).

Would recommend and go again but ask for a quiet room as ours was just off reception and lots of people walking about and talking till about 3 am.

This hotel was Booked with spa breaks as a Spa treat with group of friends .Very pleased with spa,the treatments were good and staff very friendly and chatty, lovely pool area with all steam and sauna rooms. Rooms good ,clean and lovely food in restaurant .plenty of parking and easy to find from motorway .lovely views across the golf course from room and other areas around the hotel. Good price for the weekend stay. Quiet during the night time considering a wedding was held ,some door banging as you normally get in hotels as they were closed but it was not ongoing.

We were staying at the hotel as a treat for our silver wedding anniversary but to be honest I wish we had gone somewhere else. We stayed for two nights and there was a wedding reception going on during both days and it made us feel like we were an 'also ran' on what should have been a special weekend for us. What I am most disappointed about is that our friends had paid for a bottle of bubbly to be in our room on arrival as a surprise but it never arrived. It wasn't until our second day that we found about it from our friends. I really felt bad for them that the surprise hadn't been in place. Bringing it to our room 24 hrs late really doesn't cut it. But to be honest it set the tone of the weekend...

The service was hit and miss the main cellar bar was busy as the wedding party were waiting for their room to be turned around for the evening and kids were running riot. Our friends joined us for the second night and they had many of the same problems with regard to service.

So if you plan to stay here I recommend you check if a wedding is taking place and if there is then go somewhere else. And to the hotel I would say don't forget your other guests and if you can't give the same level of service to both functions and individual guests... Then choose between them or take on more staff.

All in all a very average weekend with some disappointing elements :(

Room Tip: If you want a quiet nights sleep check to see whether there is a function on in the hotel if there i...

Stayed in this hotel for 1 night last night on arrival the receptionists were very nice and informative. The rooms were standard, we were out in the chalet style accommodation. Luckily we were not right by the road as the noise from the road was quite loud even off the road. The carpets were very worn and quite dirty on the high traffic areas in the rooms and the decor was very dated. The room had a flat screen TV and tea/coffee facilities. The rest of the room was clean and as standard. We did not use the hotels facilities but the bar and swimming pool looked very nice, the bar was quite modern. The breakfast wasn't the best or the worst I have had, but no clean tables on arrival and no one came over to assist. The best thing about the hotel is the location, very covenant for the nec.

The hotel is a sort of golf country hotel but also has very good conference and business meeting facilities. The restaurant and bar meals are first class. Bedrooms comfortable and service faultless. About 6 miles or so out of Coventry it makes a good location for a get together. Had no time for golf sadly. Would stay again.

I am from Cheshire and my friends are from Essex so we chose this hotel based on location. The 2 hubbys wanted to play some golf while us 2 ladies wanted to chill and relax. I am a frequent reviewer with Trip Advisor and I tell it as it is.
First check in great. Room lovely and comfortable. Food beautiful and restaurant staff great especially Jenny. Whole hotel nice and clean and the bar was great with a good atmosphere.
Pool area lovely with a good size steam room and sauna. The only thing was I do think the water could be a little warmer and the jacuzzi/hot tub was cold.
Spa treatments lovely with lovely staff. My only negative point is that there is no relaxation room or lounge to go to after your treatment. I have been on 9 spa breaks in the last 18 months and this is the first one with no relaxation room. There is nothing nicer than going to a room to chill after a treatment. I found it very strange with a hotel that advertises as a Golf & Spa resort not to have one.. This was my only fault and it is of course my personal opinion. If there had of been such a room I think I could of been giving this hotel a 9/10.
Overall a good weekend away in a clean hotel with lovely staff .

Attended this hotel as part of a convention. There were so many of us that we actually stayed in the sister hotel, a short car drive away, and spent the days here. The food for the gala dinner on the Saturday evening was wonderful, fresh, tasty and plenty of it. The Sunday lunch was actually superb! best gravy I'd had in years, and the fruit crumble was to die for! Staff were friendly helpful and apparently unflappable in the face of so many people- several of which hadn't booked! The only downside was the fact that my vegan colleague spent the entire weekend eating mainly tasteless food, thrown together at the last minute, and served to her, mostly when the rest of the table had finished. She HAD booked, and had stated her dietary needs, and although she was philosophical, the rest of our group were most indignant on her behalf, and the fact we didn't get to eat all at the same time.
