Owner description: St. Mary's Guildhall is one of the finest surviving medieval guildhalls in England, and has been one of Coventry's premier historic venues for more than 600 years. First built in the 1340s for the merchant guild of St. Mary, with its magnificent medieval interiors, and fine artworks the Guildhall offers a window into Coventry's glorious past. Once a prison to Mary, Queen of Scots, and even a playhouse where Shakespeare is thought to have performed, the Guildhall provides a fascinating free experience for all ages, at the historic heart of the city. St. Mary's Guildhall also offers a memorable venue for weddings, meetings, conferences and private functions, whilst in the vaulted undercroft beneath the Great Hall is the atmospheric Godiva's cafe, offering tasty, good value snacks and refreshments.

I visited the guildhall today - what a wonderful building - I had expected to see just one room, however, it turned into a magical visit with room after room showing so much of our history. - how lucky we are to have this building.

Found by accident after exploring the ruins of the old cathedral. Located a midst some of the remaining historical building left in the city. Like many of the attractions in Coventry it is free to enter and well worth spending time looking around, especially the treasury.

Great old building which survived the bombings and the city council which sadly laid waste to many historical buildings in the City. Its a rare look into the past and is maintained to a high standard. Well worth a visit if your into history. I believe it can be hired for special occations

A lovely building that you need to visit after leaving the cathedral area. Very very close and not to be missed. Coventry has very few old examples left after the destruction of the war but this gem remains.
