After a couple of attempts, we finally managed to have a drink and a bite to eat here and we definitely weren't disappointed. The café is very well set out, spacious and the views through the windows (or even sit outside!) are amazing. There is a great choice of food and drinks at fair prices and, after a discussion with the manager, they're going to be offering more vegan desserts in the near future, which will definitely entice our friends along. Come on people, give this place a try and support growing businesses! You'll not be disappointed. Will definitely be going again,.. and again, and again,.. (you get the picture!) ;O)

Lunch here was possibly the highlight of a slightly underwhelming trip to the gardens themselves. We opted for the two specials - one a spicy stew and the other a curry. Both were first class - beautifully presented, packed with vegetables, well seasoned and piping hot. The accompanying cous cous was excellent too. At less than £8 each, this was a great value lunch which we enjoyed in the sunshine outside. The service was top rate and the staff friendly and welcoming - to the extent that we returned for afternoon tea.

We discovered this yesterday by accident. So much better than standard visitor attraction fare and of course better than worthy wholefood cafe style vegetarian grub which can be lacking in flavour. Of our 6 guests, 4 were vegetarian and 2 were traditional carnivores. We all rated our individual dishes very highly, though I think the pakoras were outstanding- exceptionally light and delicate. Side salads were exceptionally tasty.
Rootz is worth taking a diversion for and this business deserves to be successful. Good luck!

What a find! Arriving at Ryton Organic Gardens to find it deserted are looking very sad was disappointing and frustrating. The main website has no information and to find this once thriving centre closed and turned in to what looks like office space is upsetting.

Luck would have it we looked through the windows of Fresh Rootz and went in. The friendly welcome and inspiring menu encouraged us to order the Lebanese inspired stew - it was fantastic.

In talking to one of the owners we discovered that there are all sorts of plans for the future - this sounds very exciting. I wish them loads of luck, but if they maintain this quality they will have no problem.

Looking at other reviews, reviewers have written under the Ryton Garden centre page. My view it that Fresh Rootz deserves a review in in its own right. It has been awarded a BBC Good Food Show award. I highly recommend it for all lovers of good food.

It was a real shame about the poor service (a wait of nearly an hour for a panini!!) as the food itself and the view is lovely.

I enjoyed the walk around the gardens but I certainly wouldn't rush back for food in the cafe, as despite the higher than average prices and the expectation, the lack of service and interest in the customers really lets the place down.
