We came here 5 years ago during our honeymoon week, and we returned yesterday to celebrate 5 our anniversary, The food, wine and service are all excellent. Fresh and inventive pasta dishes, gorgeous flavours and cosy and romantic atmosphere. Perfect. We tried to get a taxi home but were told nothing available. Our waitress (Monica ?) very kindly gave a us a lift home to our hotel at Burpham (Country House, see separate review by me). If you are looking for a weekend away, with walking, good food and a little luxury this was a perfect combination.

The food in the restaurant up stairs was very good much better then down stairs although my husband really enjoyed down stairs. The puddings at pappardelle are to die for and the homemade biscuits you get with your coffee are soooo lovely! The service in pappardelle great the service in Osteria not as good it depends who is working.

Arundel is not short of a good restaurant or three, but Pappardelle trumps most of the competition. It's one of the longest established restaurants here and appears to have honed its cooking to near perfection over many years. Today it's a tale of two halves with the more casual Osteria with communal tables selling nibbles to pizzas over drinks in what is essentially a bar. This is in contrast to the more formal restaurant upstairs with its rustic atmosphere deriving from low ceilings, wooden beams and picture-crammed walls reached up a flight of slightly rickety stairs. Although much emptier than the Osteria on our arrival it slowly filled up in the course of our meal. The lunch menu (£14.95 for two courses) is exceptional value. From it I chose chicken livers served in a creamy sauce mopped up with some rustic Italian bread, followed by a whole bream cooked on the bone with herb mash (I was given a choice of mash, new or roast potatoes) and a selection of vegetables (an interesting selection at that including courgette and beetroot). My wife and daughter (who is a minuscule eater) shared a lasagne. A dedicated children's menu would not go amiss although small portions of most pastas (but not lasagne) are on offer. A little disappointed that the pannetone was not available we shared chocolate fondant and a pavlova with fresh fruits for desserts. From the extensive wine list we enjoyed a new addition to it a bottle of Sicilian Costadune. Service was from a polite and friendly waitress quite formally dressed in a waistcoat and thick green tie. We left just as a German brass band arrived in the market place outside to start its performance as part of the Arundel festival.

Went here for a lunch with the family. We all chose two courses from the lunch menu. The food was excellent - the bream was fresh and cooked on the bone.
Very good value and great service!

Booked in to Pappardelle Ristorante on recommendation from local B&B, very cosy, romantic, restaurant upstairs, service fantastic, food was amazing, seemed very popular, would advise booking a table, highly recommended.
