Excellent day yesterday at arundel and the castle. Great entertainment at the venue, lots of knights, story tellers and also lots of fun in the gardens. Food was good in the restaurant and then we had a few hours going around the town where there was a music festival in the streets. Great day.

“Reasonable Castle & Gardens but expensive”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 August 2014 via mobile

Arundel isn't the best castle to visit. It's somewhat of mishmash of a very old keep, newer additions and even newer interiors as many of the original items were sold off in the past. The gardens aren't bad either but I wasn't blown away by any of it. If you are willing to travel a little further Bodiam Castle is much more spectacular. The place is let down by expensive tickets that charge extra for every little thing, want the keep and gardens that's Silver, add the newer castle that's Gold (£16), want to see the bedrooms Gold Plus.

“beautifully maintained”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 August 2014

We were really impressed when we visited Arundel castle and gardens. It was beautiful and clean - pity not many visitors present. Garden paths swept sothat all the stones were immaculate and generally gardens are impressive. we walked up to the Castle Keep and enjoyed wonderful views. Restaurant also clean and menu looked desirable although we were too early for lunch so just had coffee.

“3 hours was not enough!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 August 2014

My wife, daughter and I arrived late morning and paid for a 3 hour carpark stay. Immediately on approaching the ticket office a guide, noticing that my wife had trouble walking, offered to get the castle "golf cart" to take us up to the garden (a very steep walk) and told us how to request further lifts if nexcessary from each part of the grounds. The high wooden arches and benches ( which even close up looked as if they were carved from rock) were very impressive as were the various fountains. The upside down tree trunk stumps with their exposed roots were very novel and intriguing. The flowers and hot house plants colourful and unusual. Then in the castle the guides were very helpful as regards access to the lifts and finally arranged a buggy ride back down to the exit. The entrance fee IS expensive but great value for money. NB if you happen to have looked at the poor reviews note that they were made in 2011/2012 --much has changed since then.

Had a wonderful day in both the castle and the gardens and could easily have spent twice as long there as there is just so much to see. Unfortunately couldn't get a guided tour but would love to go back.
