Spent a glorious late morning walking through the grounds. The flowers, herbs, fountains we're on full display. Following lunch off grounds (handstamp gives you same-day re-entry) we returned for a leisurely visit through the castle and staterooms (USA =bedrooms). So much to see and be amazed at.

This was our 2nd castle on our week’s holiday in Sussex and frankly I’m glad to say that it was worth paying a little more to extend our holiday between east & West Sussex where we’ve never been before.
On arrival we received our Bronze tickets as being members of the HHA & then upgraded to gold so did everything bar the bedrooms as my wife in her mobility chair couldn’t get up there. However we saw so much in fine detail that we weren’t too worried.
On arrival they allowed her chair into the lift that took from lower ground to ground floor and from here to several displays and then I climbed the steps to the keep and some fine views.
We then had some lunch prior to the other tour rooms being opened at 12:00. Again they provided another lift that took us up to the great hall and even in there they provided a ramp lift so she could get to the floor accessible by 2 steps so despite her disability she saw everything that I did bar the Keep.
Outside there are magnificent gardens where the cathedral is the back drop. Really great designed garden of all shapes & colours plus other buildings as well. It was a joy to walk around here.
Also a chapel to view but not accessible. However outside the garden there was a buggy vehicle to take to the exit.
What I must though say is how friendly the staff were and of course so very helpful as well. On arrival there is a car park opposite with reasonable pricing.
Definitely 5 stars if not more and if you join the HHA then you will soon recover the payment very quickly plus also supply revenue to these privately owned buildings etc.

Visited the castle and gardens in june and had a great day out. Lots to see, We had gold tickets that let us see everything except the bedrooms. You will need gold + tickets to see those. Good food in the larger cafe with hot and cold food on offer. We were lucky and had nice weather which helped when walking around the gardens.
would recommend.

Visited mid-week which we think was a blessing as it wasn't too busy. Staff very attentive and helpful. We bought the gold+ ticket which enabled us access to all areas available including the bedrooms and The Keep and gardens etc. Spent a leisurely 3 hours wandering around and must say loved the gardens. Perhaps parking could have been included in the price but overall a good day out

Admission was 17.50 included in our trip so that was a good deal. The cwhole experience was very pleasing. Well restored and original features with beautiful interiors. Didn't have the energy to explore all the gardens but what we did see was well maintained. Be prepared to walk up hill and climb steps and stairs. Well worth the visit.
