“No issues at all”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

We stayed here when we visited the cricket in June. Room was what you expect at a travelodge and was very clean. No issues with with booking etc and the staff were very friendly.

No air conditioning and the noise from traffic was ok as our room was on the car park side.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the car park side.

I have posted on TL before & not flattering! - We paid top end due to late booking & August, I was nervous but on entering I was met by Natalie who was friendly & professional (noted Natalie was also housekeeper - Commendable) I opened family room door trying to forget the last time I did! But it was Bright & Clean / Fresh - we were very impressed and the refit was fabulous and contemporary.
The children's beds were made & ready, unlike previously when we were left sheets to DIY!?
The addition of flat TV afforded us more space on the unit for bits n bobs etc.
As I said - we paid Top End but no complaints and it takes a lot to impress me! - On Sunday we passed Natalie who once again was juggling a Hoover , Sheets & Reception and still smiling !!!
Great Ambassador for TL.
The Directors etc are working for a more solid financial base and if they stay in this vein and introduce a Premium feel - I think they will do it!!!
Talking about money I noted car park lighting On 24 hours !?
Well Done TL - just hope you complete Refurb' programme quickly and keep standards High!!!
This site is ideal for :
Retail in Chichester -
Lunch in Arundel -
Beach in Climping etc.

We stayed at the Travelodge Arundel Fontwell to spend a couple of days at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. In the first place the cost of the room was quite high, £505.00 for three nights in a double room. The second issue was the noise from the adjacent roads, almost constant very heavy traffic until very late at night and re-started in the early hours of the morning, still very dark. The third issue was the heat; the weather was quite warm but the window has a restrictor fitted which prevents the window from opening more than a few inches, nowhere near enough. Fourth was the pillows that seemed to be filled with chunks of foam that were magnificent at retaining heat, not at all comfortable. Fifth was the unpredictable water temperature at the shower; it will randomly fluctuate from too hot to too cold and all stops inbetween. Sixth was the unpleassant odour of stale garlic which seemed to pervade the ground floor. Seventh, and last, the free WiFi didn't work in the bedrooms.

In summary; hot, uncomfortable, noisy and not good value for money.

Room Tip: Try to get a room overlooking the hotel entrance and car park as they face away from the busiest roa...

It was a lovely evening; sunny, pleasant temperature and a light breeze - that was outside.

Inside the Travelodge it was stiflingly hot, airless and unpleasant. My room was upstairs which was worse - heat rising I guess. There is no air conditioning, which I think is fair enough, but the worst thing is you can't open the bedroom windows by more than 1 inch as they are tethered with a chain "for your safety" a bossy little notice says. What unsafe practices are they worried about? Suicide attempts from the great height of first floor into the soft bushes below? Sussex burglars putting a ladder up outside to break in? Maybe its just safer to cook the guests.

I asked the receptionist for a key to unlock chain so I could open the windows to the normal extent but the receptionist said he "wasn't allowed to issue this key" though he did give me a fan, this stirred the hot air around the room but with no means of escape it did nothing to lower the temperature.
I tried to find another room in the area, but it was 9pm and everywhere else was full, so I had no choice but to go back inside.
The stupid thing was that it became quite cool outside, as I know when I went outside to cool off, and if I was allowed to open the window the room would have reached a tolerable temperature fairly quickly.
As others say, it is in a noisy location next to a busy road, the bed seemed comfortable, the receptionist pleasant despite getting grief from many of the prisoners that evening, but really nothing else matters when the temperature is no extreme and you can't open a window.

I will never stay here again, if the weather was actually hot it must be really bad in the Travelodge

Room Tip: A ground floor room facing the car park might be better.

The room was spotlessly clean.
The best thing of all was the comfortable bed and pillows. The bedding was good quality to.
Our room got quite warm and the morning receptionist offered us 2 fans straight away.
The evening receptionist kindly offered us information about villages to visit and good places to eat.

Lovely travelodge. Very pleasantly presented and functional rooms. BUT Too hot and no air con or even fan to help. Had to leave windows open and even then too hot and as the lodge is right next door to busy garage there was a lot of noise. Some areas obviously had air con e.g. reception, but the further you get from reception the more the heat builds up. If the room had air con this review would be much higher as it would solve both the heat and noise issues (windows closed).

The room was tiny, far too small for 2 adults and 2 children, nothing like the photo shown when booked. No staff to supervise the drinking, shouting and smoking of illegal substances right outside the hotel door, felt v unsafe with my 2 babies (8months & 2yrs) the whole room shook when doors opened and closed around us. Had to park on the verge of petrol station 2nd night as no spaces as people had double parked in 2 spaces! Shower flooded the bathroom and bath mat was ripped and uncomfortable. Not a pleasant stay!
