“Lovely meal whilst passing through”
Reviewed 28 April 2014

Four of us stopped here for a late lunch early dinner, the service was very good and although fairly busy didnt have to wait for anything. The food was nice, although it was a bank holiday Monday we could still have the Sunday roast dinner deal. We chose a variety of dishes and all were very nice. Ideal for a quick stop.

“appaling food and rude staff”
Reviewed 9 April 2014

having waited twenty minutes for the waitress to stop talking to her colleague and take our order we then had to wait a further 55 minutes for our meal, which we chased with the manager twice. When it did finally arrive it was cold and we were told eat it or not its your choice but we are not changing it. This was from the restaurant manager himself. If we had not had a young person under 12 with us we would have walked out long before our meals even arrived.

a kitchen staff member was wearing outside clothes to dish up food, nor was her long hair tied up. Both of which are breaches of the food hygiene laws.

“Needs a refurb, but great menu”
Reviewed 2 April 2014

This is one of the better places we have found to eat next to a Premier Inn. The menu is fresh and stimulating and includes lots of meal deals. They also offer to replace any meal you are not happy with.
My husbands sirloin steak was perfection and he was really happy.
I had the square chicken burger, which was not quite as good.
The two chicken fillets were fried in batter, not grilled and the ciabatta roll was hard. The lettuce inside the bun had wilted with the heat.
I suggest they grill the chicken and use a softer bap type roll and serve a small side salad separately and that would be great.
Main grumble is that the whole place is dismal and dated and the tables are sticky! I covered my side of the table with serviettes, as it was disgusting. The chairs were also hard and out of date. The duty manager did change the chairs over for us and said the place is due refurbishment. I hope they do it soon, as this place could really be 100% fantastic. The service was very good and the staff friendly. It was just grubby and sticky, yuk.
Given a "very good" rating for service and an interesting menu.

“Excellent service on a busy weekend”
Reviewed 1 April 2014

Although it was exceptionally busy there was no undue delay in receiving a tasty, hot and enjoyable meal. The "New" menu (changed since our last visit) was varied. Staff members were pleasant and took time to ensure that our meal was to our satisfaction. Young diners were made to feel welcome as they were encouraged to order for themselves. Breakfast bonus...children eat free of charge (with conditions).
Don't forget to book your table in advance. This Beefeater is very popular.

“Very slow service.”
Reviewed 31 March 2014 via mobile

Having been asked to book a restaurant for a group of friends I settled on this one. Rather embarrassingly it was an hour before the starters arrived. We had hoped to have a starters, mains, desserts and coffee but after 2.5 hours we called it a day having only received starters and mains and left. On the plus side the food was quite good but it will be a long time before I venture there again. A great shame.
