“Chalk Farm Fisheries”

Chalk Springs Trout Fishery
Reviewed 30 January 2014

Great new experience.. Great memories. Today 6 of us visited Chalk Springs - 2 adults and 4 teenagers . We had a great experience and the owner was kind enough to show us around and tell us about the whole fascinating story - he has been there for 30 years so probably knows more about 'old trout' than anybody! Even the teenagers said what a great time they had. We caught fish, had very patient tuition and even got to take them home. Something different to do and a lot more fun that we thought it would be . Well worth the money for the experience and the memory. However, we would like our photo on the 'Wall of Fame'!

As you drive in between the lodges the world starts to slow down. Even though this fishery is between 2 main roads he sound of the traffic doesn't reach you. After parking your car go into the office to pay for your ticket. Prices vary for the amount of fish/time there. From 2 hours up to a full day. Darren the owner or his staff will give you all the help you will need. You can hire a rod as well. There is a small amount of tackle for sale as well as flies that take fish on the lakes. As you walk down to the lakes look to the right at the fish farm there you will see fish for the next year as well as the fish going into the lakes now. The first lake you come to is North Pool, the smallest. This will whet your appetite the water is nearly always crystal clear as are all the lakes. As you move down the fishery you will pass East and West lakes. East lake is the longest lake and acts like a river, slow with some deep holes, West lake, has a few trees around the edges making it a good lake to ambush a large fish. South lake has 2 very deep holes with large fish cruising in the depths. Chalk Springs has a very good stocking policy with Rainbow, Brown and Blue trout. The staff and fishermen will always give you any help they can. There is no catch and release allowed. A full list of rules are available on the web site or at the office. Whilst you fish Arundel has plenty to keep the rest of the family bush for the day, so you can fish without guilt.
