Looking for somewhere to celebrate our 36th wedding anniversary I decided on an away night, a dinner, bed and breakfast deal. But where? We had spent a happy day in Arundel many years ago, more than 36! Looking on the local website for a hotel The Town House looked good and although not cheap did mid-week deals so I booked us in, not the suite but the next size down.
On arrival we were not disappointed, small but ornate dining room in the entrance, popular with locals and, on this occasion, race goers to Goodwood.
Our room was comfortable although it didn't have the best view available - not a problem as I didn't plan to spend time looking through it. The only downside was the bathroom, so rare these days not to have a shower, even if it is over the bath, this one only had a hand held shower. No worries, it was only for one night.
Our dinner was delicious, we had, and would recommend, the Chateaubriand steak . The speciality though is fresh local lobster and crab.
Dessert came to the table, and my wife's was on a large plate with Happy Anniversary in piped chocolate with red balloons piped on to add a bit of colour, a delightful touch by owner/chef Lee.
Breakfast was served by Lee who is a great character, I went for the full English to see me through a day of touring the castle etc.
Would we go back? Oh yes
