Owner description: Martin and Gwenn locals from historic Arundel have developed a fascinating talk and tour. People living locally as well as Tourists, Language Schools, coach parties and day trippers have been introduced to the intriguing insight into the Roman and Victorian through to anecdotal facts and changes throughout the town. During the walk they make reference to photo books showing the town 100 years ago that makes the tour a must for history lovers and for people intrigued by local knowledge. We are pleased to announce that we have a turn-up-and-go tour EVERY DAY at 2 o'clock from The Norfolk Arms in the High Street

“Fantastic”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

We were on a tour with a local group who only live 4 miles away. We have been to Arundel so many times and never knew or even thought about the town in the way it was presented. I learnt so much on this tour and will return to do another. Martin, his wife and daughter are so passionate about their home town and this shown through their every word. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it, well done, fantastic time, thank you.

“Excellent”
Reviewed 10 August 2014 via mobile

We were part of the Littlehampton Flashback day trip to Arundel & we thoroughly enjoyed listening to Martin, who is a very nice guy. He is so informative and knowledgable, we all learned new facts about Arundel. I would love to take more tours with Martin, who seems to have unlimited knowledge of Arundel and who obviously does his research.

“Treasure in Arundel.”
Reviewed 1 August 2014

Martin the tour leader would be a genuine Mullet (born in Arundel) but for the early interference of the NHS who forced his generation's mothers to deliver their babies in a hospital in Rustington. He is a real treasure for the town in that he was brought up in Arundel by a family of Mullets and has an obvious love, pride and interest in his home town.

He brings a lot of knowledge of the history and geography of Arundel to his tour and some interesting personal history of what it was like growing up in the town. When he was young the then Duke of Norfolk (Bernard) was very involved in the community and often seen walking around and involved in conversation with the locals with whom he was very popular. The Duke also invited the Queen on many occasions to stay at Arundel Castle and Martin relates how when Her Majesty visited for Goodwood he and his neighbours would all line up twice a day to cheer and wave as the Queen left and then later returned to the castle.

I found a leaflet about Arundel historic walking tours by chance (sadly I do not remember from where) because I was unaware of them, despite living in nearby Rustington for some years. I was looking for an interesting activity for some friends who were making a short visit from London.

They both have considerable historical knowledge themselves but really enjoyed their experience with Arundel historic walking tours as Martin made sure they were shown interesting features at every turn, carried a sheaf of historical photographs and drawings to help us understand the changes over the years and willingly answered their many and varied questions.

Despite living close by and having been on one tour already I think I may do another as having read some other reviews on their own website the tour has yet more to offer and Martin seems to tailor the tours to each group he meets. I thought the charges very reasonable , the organisation and delivery excellent and I would highly recommend this tour to visitors to the area and locals who may think they know the town quite well - until they meet Martin.

“Fantastic way to spend an hour !”
Reviewed 30 July 2014

We were a family of 10, ranging from 15-75yrs old ,looking to spend a day in Arundel. The castle was to costly , so we settled for a walking tour with Martin and his partner and an ice cream.
We couldn't have chosen better and loved our walk round the old town. As Martin grew up there, there wasn't much he didn't know. We have wandered around and visited many times but had never seen places Martin showed us.
It was a great way to while away an hour going back in time.
Well recommended!
