What has happened to the standards at The Black Rabbit, Arundel? We have previously had great meals there but tonight (8th March 2014) was so very disappointing!
We both liked the sound of the ham hock Bubble & squeak to start: 97% mash, 1% bread crumbs, 1% ham hock & 1% cabbage although there was no cabbage in mine. Liquid hollandaise sauce, the consistency of water. Not good. A better description would be 'balls of mash with a barely poached egg with a clear runny white inside with hollandaise water.
In the steak & ale pie The ale was so prominent that we were left wondering ...was the cow drowned in it. Served with mash, only there was so little mash on the plate. Perhaps it had all been used up in the starter!?
Lots of negative reviews here and no comments from the management! The food was so good before. A perfect location, it's a shame standards have slipped so much.
