What has happened to the standards at The Black Rabbit, Arundel? We have previously had great meals there but tonight (8th March 2014) was so very disappointing!

We both liked the sound of the ham hock Bubble & squeak to start: 97% mash, 1% bread crumbs, 1% ham hock & 1% cabbage although there was no cabbage in mine. Liquid hollandaise sauce, the consistency of water. Not good. A better description would be 'balls of mash with a barely poached egg with a clear runny white inside with hollandaise water.

In the steak & ale pie The ale was so prominent that we were left wondering ...was the cow drowned in it. Served with mash, only there was so little mash on the plate. Perhaps it had all been used up in the starter!?

Lots of negative reviews here and no comments from the management! The food was so good before. A perfect location, it's a shame standards have slipped so much.

It's always difficult finding a pub or restaurant when one of you has dietary requirements. My wife has a gluten-free diet and it's usually a case of pick something off the menu only to be disappointed.

The Black Rabbit is different. Lorna couldn't have been more helpful, checking the ingredients and asking for meals to be adapted where possible - a welcome change, thanks.

There were 6 of us dining and all had excellent meals so I can't recommend it highly enough. The setting too is superb, right on the riverside with views of the rolling countryside. It's especially nice when we get some (unexpected?) sunny weather too!

Well done and thanks again.

Walked to the pub from Arundel, it took about 30 mins down the country road. Did not reserve a table but were seated straight away. Food choice excellent & service good.
For those who like Harry Potter they have the rowing boat that was in the film series on display!

After a day shopping with my wife we decided to chill out by the river instead of going home to cook. My wife went for the Homity pie, which was an open vegetable pie with mashed swede and savoy cabbage on the side and I settled for Fish and chip platter this has salmon & dill fish cake, beer battered fish, and scampi with chips curry sauce mushy peas with bread and butter, we had to go for the ice cream to finish off as there was no room left. A great end to the day with great food sitting by the river on a very hot and sunny day. A return visit is a must!

Myself and my partner were staying in the local area for the weekend and decided upon The Black Rabbit for a Sunday lunch. Sitting outside over looking the river I don't think anyone could argue about the beautiful setting, a shame the food let it down. We both order Sunday beef roast. My partner had to return his due to the revolting slice of beef they had dished him out. Mine was better but extremely fatty. The whole meal was tasteless. Roasted carrots and parsnips. Burnt one end yet raw at the other. They did refund my partners meal which we were grateful for as we had not requested it but all in all a very disappointing experience that we would not return to
