“Golf Weekend”
Reviewed 9 June 2013

In a quiet location with a good golf course that should challenge the higher handicapper. The hotel was clean and quiet, staff generally very attentive. Rooms well equipped, with the exception of an alarm clock, but included robes and slippers. A bit of a hike to some rooms. My only complaint was no draft beer in the Richmond bar and the bartender had no interest in rectifying this by moving a bottle of gas from the golf bar!

Dinner and breakfast where inclusive on our package. the former a little restrictive, unless one wished to pay a premium for some items on the menu. breakfast was good, especially the salmon and scrambled eggs.

Overall more than accpetable, would stay here again.

In a great location with excellent leisure facilities and beautiful grounds I expected Goodwood to be a really special couples retreat. The hotel lacked atmosphere, the rooms were pleasant and clean but no special touches. Staff were very attentive but not particularly friendly. On the plus side the swimming pool is a great size and the leisure facilities were great and they offer a good range of treatments. The restaurant was lovely and a great place to meet friends although the menu seemed quite limited. It's quite a nice place to stay but in terms of cost I think you could do better!

Room Tip: It's a bit of a rabbit warren- good luck!

I look for three things in any fresh hotel room, is the reading lighting adequate ?, do the curtains fit so I am not awakened by any early shaft of light ?, can I work the taps without having to do gymnastics around the shower door ? All three passed the test, but there was no hot water for the bath. This seemed strange because it was steaming hot in the was basin, but I never bathe in a wash basin.
I was told next morning by the lovely girl on the desk that on one of the bath taps was a little button which I needed to keep pressing to increase the heat...simple, but why on earth did they not explain this when showing me the room ?

Anyway that was my only niggle. This is a pristine hotel next to the Race course, and a single gear change from the motor circuit....all this but five minutes from the centre of Chichester.
Loads of room to park, very quiet, and even so in the dining room..no loud voices, everyone, even the odd child on best behaviour.
A simple straight forward breakfast with lots of newspapers to read, and Scandinavian/Polish guys and gals to discretely serve you.

I would certainly hope to return to this remarkably well run place, and now I have the know how, enjoy a hot bath to boot.

Room Tip: There was no noisy street nearby,so they all looked good

I booked this place for my boyfriends birthday treat, we were both really looking forward to it. The hotel and grounds are lovely, the food we ate in the evening in the restaurant was really nice too. For the price that was charged though, I was really disappointed with the room. We had a garden suite which meant there was a small terrace. The room itself was really nice. However the walls were paperthin, we were in an adjoining room, and the couple next door made so much noise (not the kind you'd want to overhear), they may as well have been in our room with us. We didn't get much sleep, and got woken up by them early the next morning. The hotel really needs to do something about soundproofing! The disappointing thing was when I mentioned this the next morning on checkout, there was no response from front desk, they barely said anything - for the price we were paying I would have expected an apology of sorts if no discount on the price. Not sure I would stay there again after that experience.

We spent two nights at the Goodwood Hotel with many friends as we were all attending a large wedding at Goodwood House next door. All the guests were most impressed with the bright, clean and comfortable rooms. The sun shone and eating outside was very pleasant. The hotel had excellent facilities and was wonderfully positioned for Goodwood House. Eight of us had a really first class dinner at the Kennels restaurant which is normally reserved for members of the golf club but is also available for guests of the hotel. The food was delicious and beautifully presented in a really special setting. Would highly recommend it

The members of staff on reception, in the restaurant (The Richmond Arms) and the grill bar were all very friendly and clearly had been trained in the art of providing good customer service. Excellent. The room was spacious, clean and well furnished and the bed large and comfortable.
The food in the grill was well cooked and presented and likewise breakfast in the Richmond Arms. The Hotel was particularly handy for The Goodwood Racecourse where we'd spend a pleasant (and financially successful!) day and if I'm back in the area to go to the racecourse or to play golf (the golf course is also right on the doorstep) I wouldn't hesitate to book into the Goodwood hotel again. Well done all round.

Lovely location, great for going to the racecourse, aerodrome, house or track. Has a spa, meetings rooms, lots of parking. Cafe style bar and I had lunch there, very good. Also had breakfast in the Richmond Arms restaurant. Staff are excelsnt and very friendly. Saw one of the rooms, the Cedar Suite, set for at wedding, nice room with access to its own garden area. Boutique style hotel but more multi purpose, definitely want to stay there.
