Nice hotel, comfortable rooms.. overall a good stay with good health club facilities, and the package for two included a massage (but only for one guest-and not the other!) The food was very nice at both restaurants in the hotel but a little unhappy with the service at the restaurant (Richmond Arms) as at breakfast as they didn't make it clear what was included in our package and so we missed out on a proper breakfast on the first day.

You have a wonderful place. We enjoyed our experience. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Our daughter enjoyed playing golf at both the Park Course and Downs Course. My husband and son enjoyed their driving experience at the Motor Circuit. I enjoyed the beautiful scenery, the clean atmosphere, and the comfortable surroundings. We'd stay again... Thank you.

This is the hotel of the Goodwood Estate. We went for a weekend break and were slightly disappointed by the overall ambience, more a three star than a four. The picture shows a rather pleasing small hotel within a neo-Georgian house. In fact, this front leads to a rather rambling and quite extensive hotel which seems to be a mixture of a business hotel and a golf clubhouse. Having said that, the rooms are well furnished, the bar menu is good and the spa and wellness areas modern and well fitted. The kitchen of the main restaurant is good, however, the restaurant itself is really not special.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that looks out on to the countryside - otherwise you will feel as if you are on a Uni...

Communication is key to any client/customer relationship. Goodwood Hotel needs to learn this lesson if they are to satisfy the expectations of their guests.

Communication breakdown 1 - We were booked in at the hotel for one night and wanted to extend our stay to two. Wife phoned hotel a couple of weeks beforehand. Told it shouldn't be a problem and that they would confirm. Nothing heard until we were actually driving down...bit late but OK.

Communication breakdown 2 - When trying to arrange the extra night my wife asked about evening meal options. Only told about the hotel restaurant. Only when we arrived did see mention of The Kennels. Tried to book there, too late. Instead we had to eat in the hotel restaurant which was only average, probably spoilt by the total lack of atmosphere.

Communication breakdown 3 - Before the meal we wanted to have a pre-dinner drink and were shown to the bar...but no bar staff were there. Sat down and waited 5 minutes. Went to have our meal...

Communication breakdown 4 - when back in our room we spotted that the key card gave our departure date as after one night not two. As it was late, we thought we would double check at reception the following day. We then found out we had only been booked for one night...but fortunately they could accommodate us for a second...

Communication breakdown 5 - we enjoy a nice day in Chichester and Arundel but returned to our room to find it was exactly as we had left it. Bed not made. No fresh towels. Rubbish in bins. We ring reception, They say they had been told not to clean the room....unbelievable...

Communication breakdown 6 - we leave the room so the cleaners can work in peace. the reception is so far away I decided to sit in our car to listen to the radio. As the car was parked next to the welcoming yet unattended conference entrance I was able to witness three different couples arrive and try to enter the hotel by that route - because the hotel reception is not signed anywhere! Why not?

Communication breakdown 7 - Speaking of signs, potential guests should realise that photos of the quaint country inn is very misleading. It is actually a 94 room rabbit warren of corridors with no signage to help guests find there way to reception. Our first night was as part of a large conference and we joined up with four other couples all wandering aimlessly around these corridors trying to find our way out. We found it was actually quicker to walk outside to reception.

All in all a poor experience. I am a great fan of all that the Earl of March has done at Goodwood House, Racecourse, Revival and Festival of Speed. I have visited all and been so impressed by the quality and style. But this is not what you receive at the Goodwood Hotel.

Room are OK but no more than Premier Inn on steroids. Breakfast was excellent the first night but poor the second. Bar and dining experience empty. This is a 94 room conference and wedding facility. It is not a cosy country house hotel. You have been warned.

I felt I needed to communicate this information....

Room Tip: Make sure you are not too far from reception unless you enjoy a long walk. And try The Kennels to ea...

This hotel have really got everything right. The staff (every single one) were polite, friendly, helpful and made us feel so welcome. Everywhere was clean, the food was great. The bed was like sleeping in a warm hug! The gym and pool were clean, well maintained and great fun. They even had recommended walks in the local countryside which we followed. They really couldn't do enough for us.

An excellent overall experience. All staff were polite and professional providing great service. The restaurant served a good choice of fine quisine. The pool, although quite busy on our visit, was Excellent. Would have been nice to have some more loungers available. The room was clean and of a high standard. Nice location and grounds.
