“More stars if reception staff had not argued with me”
Reviewed 31 August 2014

Attending a wedding and booked several rooms for family members and friends - over 30 rooms booked. Wedding commenced at 3.00 pm (not on site) and we had pre-warned hotel of wish to access room in order to change into outfits.

Offered room at 2.50 - room not changed from previous occupant but just wanted to change and therefore accepted it of course.

On checking out following morning I mentioned that my stay would have been more pleasant if I had had access earlier, particularly as the room was not ready anyway - I just wanted somewhere to change after all. The 2 staff members argued with me about the fact that rooms were not advertised to be ready earlier but in such an establishment which suggests lavish care and facilities I would expect staff to accept my mild comment and agree that they had made an effort but it was not possible for whatever reason. In my opinion the hotel needed more staff to service rooms on that occasion due to our wedding and another going on that weekend at the hotel. They knew we were coming and wanted to change outfits there, after all.

Bed comfortable in garden room complex although room soul-less and un-interesting. Like hardback books available in room. Breakfast standard with poached fruit available although pastries were overcooked and far too crisp and crunchy, not flaky.

Fantastic standards at this hotel, in a lovely peaceful area of sussex yet close to Chichester. Breakfast one of the best with very attentive staff. Pool and leisure facilities really nice but can get a little busy at times with families or aqua classes.

Really i feel i shiuld be keeping this one to myself! But Goodwood is my go to break with family and as a romantic getaway with my husband. It's just so relaxing, the food is incredible, they have great facilities and they do a fantastic rate for DB&B. Another lovely stay, thankyou Goodwood Team :)

Some places need great weather to make the surroundings come to life. Goodwood is such a place. For those not on a conference, or not die hard motorsports fans, you may find few reasons for excitement

Great hotel- so much to do! Perfect for a long weekend. Amazing terraces where you can see the golfers coming in from the last tee. Absolutely brilliant 5* breakfast. Great grounds to walk in, and lots around to do. The best part of the hotel is the amazing attentive outstanding service- it is a standard above other places. Just impeccable! The room we stayed in was one of the new signature rooms. I thought the new decor was a bit dull (not sure how they looked before) so not impressed, but to be fair my boyfriend liked it, and it was a large room. The spa is great (sauna is awesome, steam could to hotter).
We found a lovely beer garden nearby (the food was not very good) but amazing gardens- it is called something 'Horse'- the hotel recommends it, so do ask the reception.

Hairdryer broken, toilet seat broken and shower faucet loose. Condescending manner from reception upon complaint. The overall state of the hotel is one of needing new carpets and attention to detail. The room service food was good though and quick. My bathrobe was also ripped and needed mending!

Very comfortable though felt price didn't reflect use of the facilities available. No information in room to help make the most of Health Club facilities, as if intended??? Seriously lacking in standard of coffee to match Goodwood's reputation!!
