We chose The Croucher to visit Chichester before the 72nd Goodwood Members Meeting. It was a nice and relaxing stay. Surrounded by the green lawns pointed by yellow daffodils, this country house has a relaxing charm. Secluded landscapes and large parking spaces perfect for weddings and a farm-chic atmosphere that give you the impression to stay at “home”.
It was nice to drink our first coffee early in the morning outside in the patio, especially because a curious pheasant was looking at us.
The only regret was that at breakfast we had to wait a lot for our order even if the restaurant was not crowded at all. Finally when the two dishes arrived, they were not what we had chosen so, as it was too late, we left them on the table to check out.
Perfect location, very good quality mattress but, sorry to say, service need improvement.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with patio to feel as you are sleeping in your own cottage

We are attended a small wedding reception meal at Crouchers. Been in the area for 25 years never been before. Over the years heard very mixed reviews. We were welcomed very warmly and without fuss, the staff were there to help but not in your face, the pre lunch service was excellent. The waiter was brilliant with old and young alike. The food could knock spots of many a top London eatery. We could not fault the whole day. It was not busy today which may have helped but really first class on all accounts. Well worth a visit. None of us were staying so I cannot comment on rooms or breakfast.

My fella and I were looking to stay in Chichester for a long weekend for my birthday a couple of weeks ago, and after doing a lot of comparisons on line (a lot of it via Tripadvisor) we plumped for a couple of nights here....and we are really pleased we did. The standard of accommodation is excellent for the price (the same price bracket would only get you a room over a pub in town or maybe a small private B&B).

The location is brilliant, as it's far enough from town to be really country, but still close enough to reach everywhere within 15 mins (town one way & beaches the other). We spent an hour on our first night watching and photographing the wildlife in the field behind our room: 2 small red deer, 2 pheasants and 2 robins plus a beautiful full moon.

The room itself was very well appointed, with a large TV, very comfy bed, stacks of hot drink choices and extremely good biscuits (not to mention the wonderfully powerful overhead shower and luxury toiletries...the body lotion smelt divine!) We were lucky enough to have east facing patio doors over the fields, so we awoke to a beautiful sunny view over the countryside.

Although we didn't eat breakfast at the hotel, we did sit in the bar in the evening and found the lounge area very inviting. In fact everywhere was very well maintained with extremely tasteful decor. We were travelling by motorbike, and so were very grateful of the spacious car park within a stones throw of our room as we had quite a lot of gear to carry (most places in town did not boast such convenience).

All in all, we were very impressed with Crouchers hotel and really enjoyed our time there. We would not hesitate to stay there again or recommend it to others.

Clean fresh and beautiful food are the first words that come to mind in relation to this Hotel. The lunch was fabulous! Excellent cuisine and really pleasant staff. Great choice of wines and great value. Despite the quality of the food and the surroundings, the cost was surprisingly reasonable at £49 for the 3 of us excluding the wine. Breakfast was a bit disappointing in that it was all slightly overcooked but was there loads of choice and good quality ingredients. Highly recommend this lovely hotel and will definitely go back.

6 miles from Goodwood, our ultimate destatination, was a bit too far. The hotel seems to be a newish build, stylish and smart, one or two local staff might be a good idea.
Food in the dining room and at breakfast was excellent - if a little pricey for where you are and what it is.

Room Tip: Room 19 in the eaves... delightful, however, a too fancy bath, that looks good (boat shaped) but doe...

We arrived in a huge stone covered car park directly off the Birdham Road Chichester on the road to West Wittering Beach and entered the reception area and were greeted by the friendly Maria who swift showed us into the bar area where we could sit with both the dogs in traditional leather high chairs.

Carlo the handsome Italian Manager came and introduced himself and gave us wise advice on the various wines available, which turned out to be very helpful. Our drinks came swiftly and we then looked at the lovely food menu and we both decided to have starters,

The Goats Cheese Risotto turned out to be the best that we had ever tasted which was created by Chef Grant who specialises in the starters.

The Main Course by Head Chef Nick was Duck and I had the Cod, both of these were well presented and cooked" Fusion Style" food and proved to be very tasty indeed with a good combination of both flavours and textures and colours.

For total indulgence we shared a Dessert created by Chef Shaun of White Chocolate and Cararmel Fondant, which proved to be well worth waiting and was cooked freshly in about 10 to 15 minutes, as this proved to the jewel in the crown of the wonderful meal that we had just shared.

We were waited upon by both Devon the girl with a lovely smile and then kindly Jill both of whom gave us excellent friendly swift service.

The overall experience was of staff who enjoyed and took a pride in giving well above average service and that they enjoyed working for us as much as we enjoyed having them serve us.

The establishment is we understand family owned and gives an impression of being both clean and well maintained and yet in a very pleasing kind of individual relaxed style.

We would whole heartedly recommend this establishment to those who appreciate something other than merely another multiple chain pub kind of a place!

Regards from both, Michaela & Roger
We do intend to visit and sample some more of your hospitality and tasty delights!

Hotel bar is great and clearly had some investment. Bar/restaurant staff service is excellent. The room was not quite as appears on website/pics. Clean but more average motel than luxury. Room door opened directly into courtyard and next to a gravel car park. Next to busy/loud road so awoken very early.
