“Wonderful stay!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2014

We spent one night at the Ship on the 28th July to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. Everyone from the reception to the restaurant staff made us feel very welcome and they could not have done more to make our stay a memorable one. The room was very comfortable. It was a very warm day so there were fans available in our room (room 32). We arrived early at around 1.30pm to be sure we got a car parking space (first come first served basis). We enjoyed a super meal in the restaurant. Chichester is a lovely town with plenty to see.

Room Tip: Room 32 is at the top of the hotel and overlooks the main street, which is pedestrianised so very qu...

This is NICE. Nice staff, nice public spaces, nice period features (fab staircase), nicely and stylishly decorated. Great breakfast. Comfortable bed. Cosy rooms - theatre themed. We were inThe Man Who Came To Dinner. Short walk to the Theatre.

Rooms and warmth of reception are excellent. All created around an obvious Chichester theatrical theme, the rooms are very well equipped and interestingly but tastefully decorated. We would recommend a superior room. Breakfast is fine but a little disappointing at this level, full breakfast is a little frugal and porridge to be avoided for example. We have enjoyed better food here in the past but the rooms and staff have always been great.

My partner and I chose the Ship Hotel for our wedding venue; Although I am sure that it would be fantastic for larger parties, we chose it for it's beautiful Georgian architecture and gorgeously decorated interiors for an intimate wedding - especially in the 'priory' room, where the ceremony and wedding breakfast was conducted. We also stayed in the deluxe suite on the wedding night, and it was one of the best nights stay I have even had at a hotel.

The wedding day went superbly - Natalie, the events co-ordinator was a true professional. I really believe she couldn't have done more to make the day so special, and the staff were all immaculate at their job. The food was exquisite and it was excellent to still be located in the heart of the city. The Ship Hotel has been transformed over the past few years into a truly special place to dine or stay in the city. I would thoroughly recommend this as a great place to visit, be it for a drink at the bar, a meal in their amazing restaurant, an event, or a nights stay!

Room Tip: All of the rooms are amazing - all decorated in keeping with a 'theatre' theme, to tie in wi...

Excellent hotel. The hotel and rooms have been beautifully refitted to a very high standard, but in keeping the era of the hotel. Everything you could need. This really is how a hotel should be run. The staff are very professional, helpful and cheerful. The food was exceptional, and so was the service. I really cant fault this hotel, and will happily return for a longer stay. Thank you

For anyone looking for exceptional food, exceptional service and an experience to remember, you simply have to visit The Ship in Chichester.

To Patrick, the General Manager Just wanted to say a proper THANK YOU to you and the team for a very special evening on Saturday 19th July, to celebrate my brother's 40th. The whole thing went off like a treat, it was far and above anything my brother (the birthday boy) was expecting. Recognising I was probably the proverbial ‘pain’ when it came to organising the meal, I couldn’t fault the extra lengths that Natalie, Josh and Sarah went to, to make sure it was a huge success. Plan B in the Guild Hall was only needed for a short while, the clouds came over during pre-dinner drinks.

The food, as expected, was amazing – every single member of my family commented on how good it was, with I think the Mango & Passion Fruit Pavlova winning hands down! I’m very grateful for the additional items that we had, without charge – and that includes the extra canapés which didn’t go unnoticed. Gratefully appreciated.

Natalie and the team did you proud – with the result that I’ll be recommending The Ship for sure to others, and of course will be frequenting Murrays in any case myself!

Key question for me was whether or not my brother came away feeling special, with an evening he’ll remember for a long time. The answer’s Yes, so job done thanks to the team at The Ship.

Thank you again.

Have just had two nights at this lovely hotel. ALL the staff we came across were pleasant, friendly and helpful. Was greeted at reception with a smile and this happened everytime we went to reception - they know how important smiles are as well efficiency. The room we had was number 38. It was lovely but hot - the hotel cant be held responsible for the weather but they had put two fans in the room which helped a lot. The room and bathroom were clean and nicely decorated. Had dinner in Murrays on the first night - great food and service. Breakfast was good, not sure about the coffee though. Loved the old fashioned lift. Good location for shops and theatre.
