We went to Brasserie Blanc for lunch last week & can only say how disappointed we were with the whole experience. This was not our first visit but it will be our last! We wanted a nice leisurely lunch (an issue we’ve had with them before) & mentioned this to the waitress. Unfortunately it appeared to fall on deaf ears as our main course was served very quickly after our first course – the same happened with desert. As to the food well the first course was the only one that I actually liked – pea, mint & marjoram soup. My partner had French onion tart with salad leaves which she said was ok but not brilliant! We both had plaice with summer vegetables for our main course – the plaice was very slightly overcooked & some of the summer vegetables were also overcooked. We mentioned this to the waitress whilst we were both still eating & all she did was discuss it with the chef & all we got was an apology, there was no offer of waving it from the bill or another option, etc. Desert was also disappointing from my perspective – a Cointreau mousse with blood orange coulis which had absolutely no flavour. My partner had sticky toffee pudding which she said was her favourite course. My partner visited the toilet prior to us leaving & was also disgusted in the state of the ladies – very unclean! We won’t be going back!

I visited again with my friend on 21st June and as ever our visit was perfect in every way. We again chose to dine from the set 3 course menu. My friend had the Smoked beetroot and curd cheese salad and myself Onion Tart, (Yum) ! Followed by the Mussel risotto and the baby plaice in a herb jus, absolutely outstanding...........and then the Parfait and the Cointreau Mousse (we weren't about to share each others ) :-) Wine with the set menu was lovely and we ordered a bottle too which was lovely. The wine here does seem to be picked impeccably and at very reasonable for restaurant prices. Service absolutely perfect, thank you Katie and Alexandra and Dave Gillard who was extremely helpful when there was a slight mix up on the bill mainly due to us causing confusion. He immediately sorted things out in a very professional manner and with a smile. He certainly seems to very a very hands on and helpful manager. Please apologise to Alexandra for not getting to say goodbye as we had over-run and literally had to leave very quickly in order to get our prospective Coaches/Trains back to Dorset and East Sussex. So yet another perfect visit to this branch of Brasserie Blanc. Will be returning again soon.

We regularly visit and can honestly say in any Brasserie Blanc that we have never had a bad meal or been disappointed, we love it. Great food and excellent service every time. Cannot fault it.

I was so eager to visit as Raymond Blanc is a word renowned chef!
we arranged to dine after 6pm as we didn't want the set menu.
First impressions were good but then we noticed a host of (in my view) bad points

I fully understand that this is a "BRASSERIE" but....... paper tablecloths over Linen? Really!
the water glasses had marks on them I would say from a dishwasher not water marks but a worn looking rim around the tops.

We asked for Olives to have with our drinks while perusing the menu only to be told that didn't have any despite being on the menu! not a good start.

The Menu is VERY limited for all 3 courses, The orders when they arrived were tasty but only warm and served on cold plates so half way thru eating BOTH our mains were cold..... my skin on the baked cod wasn't crispy and my husbands pizza wasn't crisp on the underside.

Looking so forward to dessert being Raymond Blanc we were anticipating great things! This wasn't the case the choice was average and verging on boring so we had the classic Crepes again expecting drama as normally elsewhere (even on a cruise ship) they are cooked at the table, instead they arrived in a serving dish already prepared and just flambé on the table the crêpes came as stated on the menu for 2 but even the waitress questioned the fact that she was serving 7 crepes to 2 people! Served on COLD plates AGAIN! They were terrible the worst I have ever eaten they were thick and chewy not wafer thin as they should be a total let-down!

The portions sizes on all 3 courses are very small erring on Novell cuisine and we both left hungry and felt we could of eaten more.

Before we left I paid a visit to the ladies I'm so pleased that I had finished eating at this point, if it had been on my arrival I would of probably walkout the first toilet was in a disgusting state I couldn't use it, In the second there were what looked like red crayon marks over part of the cream wall and the surrounding paintwork scuffed and dirty the taps in the sink were also dirty it was obvious that they hadn't been cleaned or inspected for a while and the disgusting toilets let down the whole atmosphere of the beautiful building. I didn't have time to complain as we were running late to catch a train, but as a first time visit we weren't left with a good impression and certainly won't be rushing back again If points aren't pick up on or improved I sadly can't see this newish restaurant lasting too long.

We had 2 starters.... 2 mains ( no sides) 1 crepes .....1 bottle of Wine.....2 drinks from the bar 1 coffee £95.00

Three of us enjoyed a meal here before walking to the theatre for an evening performance. The set menu is available at lunchtime prices until 7pm, so that's what we had. Even better value than usual, as it currently includes a glass of house wine. Between us, we drank red, white and rose - all very good. The food was delicious and well presented, and the service was friendly and professional as always. They always get the timing right, so you don't feel rushed - or impatient. We've enjoyed many meals here, both alc and set menus, and it never disappoints.
