Stunningly beautiful gardens and lovely tearoom. More park like than formal set amongst the south downs.

“Lovely tea room in a beautiful location”
Reviewed 25 February 2012

The cafe is nice, with a good view out over the gardens and the pretty countryside. You can visit the cafe without any admission fee (I ate here, but didn't pay to enter the gardens so I can't comment on them). The service was friendly and efficient, and the inside is clean and airy but retained a cosy feel with big benches for families or alchoves for couples. The food is simple and well executed: I had a cream tea which was home-baked and decent value. (the lunch menu looked basic and is only available at "lunch time", so it's more of a tea room than a restaurant).
Verdict: lovely place to come if visiting the gardens or passing by on a country walk or cycle ride.

“Wow”
Reviewed 8 February 2012

Lovely gardens set within the South Downs National park and breathe taking. Also the gallery is a must they have the Lobster Telephone. It was made by Dali's patron Edward James the former owner of West Dean, the most important British collector of Surrealist art at the time.
