“Well worth a visit, where old meets new ....”
Reviewed 10 April 2012

The Pallent Gallery has, in my humble opinion, been a great marriage of old building being joined by new. The sympathetic modern building just feels right with its links to the old.

The exhibitions on show were excellently presented & very diverse - there must be some things here for everyone.

The "cafe" also provided quality lunch/snacks & in a very relaxing & professional way.

“A well presented gallery and museum”
Reviewed 10 November 2011

I went to the Edward Burra exhibition (beautiful!) and was very pleasently surprised by this gallery in this lovely small Sussex town. Thoughtfully laid out and split between a modern annexe and the original old house, it housed an eclectic mix of works. If you not a fan of the new, you're sure to like the old - and vice-versa.

Someone suggested it cost them 11 GBP per person, but I paid much less than this on a Saturday and the website bears this out so perhaps it was the exhibition they were showing at that time.

As someone else remarks, the bookshop was also a good find. A huge and diverse range with a great many clearence offers to be found at more than 50% off.

Oh and a nice cafe too.

It's just off the high street so there's really no excuse not to go!

“Pricy, but worth it”
Reviewed 21 August 2011

We though that £11 pp was quite a lot for a small exhibition and the modern art gallery, but having said that it was all well displayed. The Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera paitings were excellent, and the permanent exhibiton was interesting.

“Interesting, Engaging and Free . . .”
Reviewed 14 August 2011

The Pallant House Gallery is very easy to find. We were lucky enough to park right outside it's main entrance. We might not be so lucky next time!

There is an abundance of rooms with lots of interesting art on display.

My favourites being Nick Blinco and Stephen White. Having just recently returned from Venice, I particularly liked Stephen's take on the sights and sounds of this beautiful city. Nick's work just blew me away, more research needed for that young man methinks!

The Anna Fox Resort Exhibition was breath taking in it's use of bright colours, this was a pleasant surprise for me as I was unsure about what this display would be like. She has done herself and Butlins right proud with this magnificent and iconic slice of life display.

The Frida Kahlo & Diego Rivera exhibition was £11 each inc gift aid. There are three rooms full of their work. They are bright, colouful and really rather beautiful in their execution. A very interesting story unfolds as you peruse the paintings. This was not my favourite room though, but it is still worth looking at.

There were numerous more rooms to enter which were all free of charge, so even if you don't fancy the above, at least pop along to see all the other beautiful works of art on display.

All in all a wonderful day out with a gorgeous lunch courtesy of Field & Fork, will we return, of course we will ... check it out ... you will not be dissapointed.

Total cost £11 each to see the Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera Exhibition.

“A wonderful display of 20th century art.”
Reviewed 13 August 2011

We travelled 150 miles to see the Kahlo/Rivera exhibition which was well displayed, and was very impressed with the rest od the museum both with regard to it's permanent displays and also the temporary photographic display by another Mexican artist. The bookshop though was a real surprise as it is by far one of the best art bookshops we have ever seen, and included many unusual and out of print books. We will keep an eye on future exhibitions so we can come back.
