Excellent production but would have preferred more Mozart music threaded through. Rupert Everett was amazing as Sallieri.

The theater is intimate yet holds quite an audience.
The acoustics are good, the seating giving all good view of the stage.
We were fortunate to see the fabulous staging of Amadeus.
Went with my girlfriend to see that great bohemian Rupert Everett in Amadeus. Fantastic play. A word also for Joshua McGuire ...the future of English stage acting. The play is a must see, before it ends it's run on 2 August. The West End to follow? I hope so.
The CFT itself has improved greatly since the refurbishment. More spacious and airy in general, larger bar area, and a nice area outside and opposite the Minerva entrance for light eating and drinks.
Very easy to get back to our seats from the foyer and/or cafe bar. Food, unfortunately and typically for major venues is disappointing. Poor quality and expensive. But then again I am not visiting for the food, and neither should you. Definitely eat elsewhere.
Parking was directly adjacent to the theatre and plentiful. And was free after 6pm.
Overall a fantastic experience. Welcome back CFT
First time in the theatre since it re-opened after its long update & revamp.
On a baking hot July afternoon we were particularly grateful for the excellent air-conditioning that came with the refit. Many of the changes may seem quite small, but when added together they make for a much better experience for the audience.
As for the play itself, Amadeus, that was quite simply a triumph, and the perfect start for the 'new' theatre.
Saw this on its second night in a wonderful theatre and would thoroughly recommend it. We were four rows from the front. What a spectacle to behold! A very atmospheric set. Rupert Everett was spellbinding as Salieri and Josh McGuire brilliant as Mozart; Simon Jones and Jessie Buckley also genius in support. It was an intelligent production, gripping all the way, and moving to the point of tears, especially when the mood was heightened by Mozart's wonderful music. The film version is quite different to the original play so this is not just a rehash of a done thing. The ending in particular and the tone throughout are quite different to the film version. Thoroughly recommend if you can get a ticket!
