We stayed here for three nights in October. The staff were very friendly and the room was nice (a little small but clean and with everything you needed). Breakfast was fantastic. The location was great - really handy for the town centre and the walls walk. Overall I would recommend highly.

Found by accident and never seen the TA Reviews until afterwards. We enjoyed a great lunch and at a reasonable price. The staff were very pleasant and apologetic for running out of one item. When back in Chichester this will be our lunch spot.

All in all a really nice place to stop at.
Decent choice of real ales, good wine list and although we didnt eat lunch or dinner, the breakfast was one of the best.
The room in the barn out the back was nice but being on the ground floor it was noisey from the room above and the landlord's car parked outside.
The barmaid/waitress who served us was really friendly and genuinely helpful.

Room Tip: Avoid the ground floor if you want a lie-in.

Just returned home from 2 enjoyable nights. Our room (in a courtyard setting) was well appointed with a large comfortable bed and a huge television, just right for watching the Para Olympics. Breakfast was good too.
Only minor fault we could find is that there is no light over the basin in the bathroom.

The courtyard is used by smokers and the like but at 10.30 all goes quite and it is hard to realise that you are staying within the city walls.

The location is perfect for us as it is near everything and we look forward to returning soon!

Room Tip: Ask for a lower numbered room as you will be further away from the smokers area. It is also worth pa...

We dined here "pre-theatre" when we went to see Kiss Me Kate at Chichester Festival Theatre. They open at 5pm instead of the usual 6pm, which gives you a more relaxed time in which to enjoy a meal. It is an easy walk to the theatre. The restaurant is a conservatory like extension and opens out onto a pleasant courtyard.

The service was very efficient and quality of food excellent. Would re-visit.

We regularly visit Chichester to see a show at the Festival Theatre. We couldn't get into our usual B & B just outside Chichester, and eventually managed to find a bed at the George & Dragon. Which could not be a more perfect location for us - a 5 minute walk from the theatre and right in the heart of the shopping area. We had two twin rooms on the ground floor of the converted stables, we were a little apprehensive about how noisy it was going to be, having read previous reviews, but there was no problem at all. We had a very warm welcome from a member of the pub staff. Comfortable bed, plenty of wardrobe space and decent shower room. We shall definitely be back.

Located a short walk from the theatre, this is a good place for an overnight stay of you are attending an evening performance and don't wish to travel home. Chichester is compact, and it is only a couple of minutes from the centre and the cathedral. There is no on-site parking, but you can park free on the street outside after 5:30pm and all day Sunday. Perfect for a Saturday evening visit to the theatre.
The buildings are full of character, and have been pleasantly decorated and furnished. The rooms are in the converted stable block across the courtyard from the main building where the pub is situated. The bar is lively, quite noisy and open until midnight on Saturdays, but because they close off the courtyard to drinkers at 11pm, the rooms were quiet. They are a good size, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was cramped, but had a powerful enough shower, and no bath. The full English breakfast was excellent; freshly cooked, large portion with lovely fresh toast. My only criticism might be that there might be a larger cereal selection, and some croissants or pastries would be welcome.
We had dinner pre-theatre in the conservatory dining area. The food was delicious and very good value. It was definitely a cut above most pub menus, and again cooked to order and piping hot. I was particularly impressed by the bream, the execution of which managed to combine crisp tasty skin with moist flesh that wasn't overcooked. The staff are very friendly well-meaning, but the service was slow, considering we were eating early and on a schedule. It meant we did not have time to sample the interesting sounding desserts, and coffees took an age to arrive.
I would return again because of the following attributes; location, welcoming atmosphere, quality of food.
