“Unexpected gem, great place and lovely staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 November 2013 via mobile

Would definitely recommend visiting the planetarium. The show was great value with live, well-informed and enthusiastic commentary. Staff were friendly and helpful and the venue has a wide variety of displays including interactive computer programmes. The home made cakes in the coffee shop are worth a visit too.

“Interesting find in Chichester!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2013

I didn't know Chichester had a planetarium, let alone one tucked away on a school campus, but I decided to give it a try with my 9 year old son who loves all things to do with space. It is a nice centre with an exhibtion and computer room too. We were greeted by a team of very enthusiastic volunteers who did a great job of bringing the posters to life! My son was whisked off straight away into the computer room while I paid - but unfortunately he didn't seem that impressed with the programmes! There is a small shop and some drinks machines but don't expect to find any food! In fact food and drink is not allowed in the planetarium at all.

We saw the Seven Wonders of the Solar System which was fascinating with some excellent slides and we learnt a lot. The only trouble was that I had to sit at an angle to see the slides properly and there is a big telescope in the middle of the room which obstructs your view a bit! The seats are all old airline seats and are quite comfortable. I'm not sure who the presenter was but he was very fluent - talking for a whole hour with no notes!

I was impressed that my son paid attention the whole time and didn't fall asleep in the dark - it was an evening show! However I would not take any child here unless they are really fascinated by space and can sit through an hour long slide presentation without complaining! Whilst the presenter was very good, and certainly knew his subject well, it was a bit of a shame that he left the room as soon as he had finished speaking, giving no opportunity for questions.

That said, I would definitey go again - it is very well organised, good value for money and run by a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic team of volunteers.

“Extraordinary find”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 December 2012

Extraordinary to find this on Chichester High School grounds - we couldn't believe that it was a proper planetarium! However, we attended on the very day and just a couple of hours after Sir Patrick Moore died. It was an excellent show and a very dynamic presenter who had turned up to do the show, despite being clearly very upset at the death of a close friend. Definitely worth a visit.
