“Poor overall”
Reviewed 17 February 2014

Baby sitter booked, table booked. Great night expected.
Turn up well before reservation. 2030 time booked.
Sat us at table 2 hours after we had made reservation.
Unable to order beer as they had sold out.
Had starters and had to cancel main course as baby sitter had to be home at midnight.
Friends that were not in our party left and refused to pay bar bill after waiting 1 1/2 hours and still not been seated.
Staff not customer friendly.

“Nice Choice (been before)”
Reviewed 16 February 2014

We hadn't intended to visit Kiplings but another restaurant badly let us down.
The welcome at Kiplings was excellent,
service was excellent and at times entertaining and the food was also excellent and served at the right time.
a good enjoyable and friendly experience.

“Raf - sort out Greengates - URGENTLY”
Reviewed 9 February 2014 via mobile

As a loyal customer I have to tell you Greengates has slipped very badly.
We waited for 1 1/2 hours for our prebooked table and then left, hungry. We were not alone.
Staff were friendly but ineffective.
I would have preferred to send a personal email but the website is down.

“We hoped for so much more”
Reviewed 6 February 2014

Myself any my boyfriend visited the restaurant 06/02/2014 on a Thursday night. The food in general was very good but other tangible and intangible aspects of the visit made our stay just average. One we would not recommend and we are not likely to return as there are so many other choices in the Leeds/Bradford Airport.

The Menu - very extensive, good descriptions and reasonably priced but it is more like a book which contains all of their awards. I think being award winning is great and should be shouted about but not when some of them are from 2001...time to move on...

The restaurant - was what seemed to be a converted house with the main 'bar' upstairs. The bar was very much put together and the whole place could do with a refurbishment. It had the feel of a cheap Italian restaurant with paintings of open fields on the wall? alongside greenery up the walls and electric candles from the 1990's!!!
The chairs were so hard it was like sitting in a cheap cafe and they had glass covering the tables cloths, very typical of cafes and the napkins were also cheap.

The food as i mentioned was good - maybe 7.5-8 / 10. We had a lamb rogan josh and a chicken rogan josh which were cooked fresh and were very tasty but the whole experience was poor. The poppadoms for instance were not fresh and the sauces came in those cheap silver pots. I also hate white onions for the dips, especially cooking onions, why not red onions with herbs...anyway that might be my own preference.
The starters were good, chicken puri and lamb kebabs although the kebabs were slightly dry and they looked very sad on the plate.

The most bizarre part of the evening out was that they refused to serve drinks in a pint glass apart from soft drinks. The option was half or a 2 pint jug!!! I do not drink but my boyfriend did not really want to sit with a half pint, nor did he feel he should sit alone with a 2 pint jug - what are the owners thinking!!! I asked the young man waiting on us why and he had no idea, i am sure if there was a logical explanation we wouldnt have cared but because we didnt know it became a humorous topic for us all evening!

Overall the Chefs deserve to work in a place in an environment that is just as good as their cooking and at the moment the front of house lets the whole place down. With a refurbishment and perhaps bringing back the pint we could be persuaded to return. Otherwise we will stay over in Leeds.

“Still the best!”
Reviewed 25 January 2014

Been coming to Kiplings since it first opened...and I've got to say it's still the best! Tried all the others which were still good but this place edges it. Great food and lovely people.
