Prior to my most recent business trip to Bradford and American colleague had warned me against staying at Jurys Inn - a hotel very frequently used by our company. That, of course, made me want to see what the fuss was about! According to my colleague it was a horrible place, so of course I had to see for myself.
The building is modern, especially in contrast to all the run down and collapsing parts of Bradford across the road. Check in was quick, professional and pleasant - no complaints at all. Hallways leading to rooms suffer just a little from the matte paint used as it shows scuffs and marks made by cleaning carts and passing luggage.
The room was clean, the bathroom spotless, and the linens fresh and comfortable. Compared to more expensive (American run) hotels there were relatively few bath towels (one) and some people apparently find the idea of wall mounted soap and shampoo dispensers unsavory - it didn't bother me in the slightest. There wasn't a great deal of spare space in the room once the bed, table and chair were accounted for, but it was sufficient.
My only complaint with the room relates to the card key operated power system, which meant that I couldn't leave electrical devices to charge when out of the room because the power is off if the card key isn't in its slot. The other main problem was the heating/cooling system - almost completely incomprehensible and of course it powered off every time you left the room and you had to start over again. I seemed doomed either to freezing cold or warm and stuffy, and I never really felt like I understood how it worked.
Free in room WiFi was adequate but not much more. The speed wasn't really good enough to stream video from Netflix or Amazon, but ti would hold a FaceTime or Voip call reasonably well.
Breakfast was excellent and really set me up for the day. Staff were pleasant and efficient and everything associated with the food service area was always spotless.
Excellent value, and remember to get your NCP parking ticket swiped by the front desk every time for a 15% discount.
