“too hot to sleep and traffic didnt help”
Reviewed 6 June 2010

beautiful foyer. wine on arrival. had to move rooms because they gave me a twin bed room. i asked to move and they accomodated me in the disabled room. acres of space and wet room bathroom. refurbished but dare i say 'on the cheap' so i wonder how long it will last? already had a cracked floor tile in the bathroom. tv tiny with dodgy picture. nowadays this is simply unacceptable. room too hot so i had to leave window open at night to sleep. or rather i didnt sleep because i had no idea bradford was a 24/7 traffic city! had to remove the 3 inch thick duvet from its cover to sleep in comfort. a max weight tog in May is not acceptable! ironing board and iron in room is essential so thank you. good quality hairdryer too. double thanks. wifi only in foyer. why no wifi in rooms people? its the 21st century! reasonable prices for a hotel in the bar and restaurant. breakfast cooked to order fresh and you can order any combo. fabulous! free parking is a huge bonus.

The good points are the location, which is central to Bradford, and the free car parking which is always good in a large town or city.

The OK points were the facade, which is reminiscent of its past glories, and the foyer which remains grand and was staffed by staff who were generally helpful.

The room I was assigned was a smoker's room which, as I don't smoke, wasn't great, plus it was too hot and it took me a while to get a sash window opened. Other than that it was clean & tidy, but had a flickering wall light and a dodgy TV.

The main bad point was the breakfast which was below average, especially the coffee which had clearly been kept on the hot-plate too long.

Overall it was an OK stay and it was at an OK price so I can't really grumble but the Midland could do a lot better with not a lot more effort or expense so I'll look forward to the time when they do.

good breakfast
polite staff
burger too dry-but where do you ask for replacing chips with veg and they actually do and bring you grilled vegetables enough to be a course on their own
beautiful quiet pub,

We stayed overnight at this hotel as we were attending some friends wedding. The hotel has great character due to its age, but the room we stayed in was extremely modern with great facilitys and lots of space. There was no noise disturbance which I was worried about being in the centre of town.

The service at the hotel was fantastic and all the staff were very efficient. We asked for an early check-in which was no problem. The wedding we attended was really well organised and the room used was beautiful. I would definitely recommend it as a wedding venue.

Bradford mat not be the most attractive city in the world, but this hotel is well worth a visit!

Great breakfast! Slightly old-fashioned hotel (in a good way). Well located. The breakfast set me up for the day.

Bradford may not be the most attractive place in the UK but the city centre has been cleaned up and is bright and pleasant. It is a good centre for touring the historically rich area and its many beauty spots.

For my week's business trip I chose to stay at the Midland on the recommendation of a local friend. I was delighted from the moment I walked in out of the snow to the warm welcome of the lovely receptionist (Jackie) and was offered a glass of wine. Check in was fast and efficient and my room was spacious, well equipped, comfortable, and spotlessly clean, and the bed was one of the most comfortable I've slept in for a long time.

The hotel is extremely well run and all the staff with whom I came into contact seem to take pride in their job and in making guests feel welcome, with a 'nothing is too much trouble' attitude.

I had dinner in the hotel restaurant twice, not a very extensive menu but everything was top quality and excellent value for money.

The hotel also has beautifully decorated public rooms and is an old railway hotel, restored with loving care, and really is a gem.

On a previous trip I stayed at the Hilton. The Midland is incomparably better.
