Attended a charity fundraising event. Venue was clean, staff accommodating and attentive, excellent tasty food and clean well decorated venue, I thoroughly enjoyed the evening. I Would fully recommend as a venue to friends and family to attend functions in the future. The charity event ran very smoothly a high quality venue.

Room ok and a nice swimming pool, but that's where the positivity ends.

Breakfast underwhelming. Plentiful staff but nobody in charge and nobody interested in offering tea or coffee to guests. I had a jacket potato with chilli at lunch - £9. I'd be embarrassed to serve what I received for £4.

To finish off, checkout featured a queue of a dozen people with just one (at least competent) girl behind the counter.

Disappointing.

I stay here regularly due to work commitments; the hotel is massively on the improve. The rooms are well cleaned with comfortable beds, the leisure facilities are of a 4 star standards.
I have eaten in the restaurant several times with the dishes being hit and miss, however, the most recent meal I had was outstanding- I had the cod. Room service is reliable and always arrives within the time provided. The bar area always has a nice atmosphere with friendly staff.
My only complaint is during my last few stays has to be the respect shown to staff by managers is disgusting. I've heard managers and supervisors swear at their staff and talk to them like dirt; my main concern was witnessing this on my last visit this week. I was sat in the lounge waiting for a taxi when someone of an authority position told 2 members of staff off for no apparent reason but swore at them when doing so. This clearly caused conflict.
Other than this complaint the hotel is a lovely place to stay, which I will continue using for business and would recommend to anyone as it's continent for motorway services and has a 4 star service.

Trying to avoid this hotel I had the misfortune of being booked here again room smelled of damp and was dusty ordered room service and was charged a rate for this although it states over ten pound order this charge is not included when I challenged this was just told the information in the rooms is out of date . Well just like the dry sandwich which was delivered and the cheese board would not be enough to feed a five year old total disgrace!!

We originally booked in for one week but due to work commitments this has been extended to an unknown date. The staff have been more than helpful and above courteous at all times. Room service is available 24/7 offering fresh food and beverages - always served with a smile no matter what time of day or night :) It was also very refreshing on Remembrance Sunday where the 2 minutes silence was acknowledged by all staff and most guests in the main reception area, a touching and thoughtful time.
If you are on business in the area it is well worth a stay! Enjoy

I looked at previous reviews for this hotel some of them not very complimentary so was a bit concerned. We were booked as part of a tour to York train museum so really did not expect too much. Very pleasantly surprised the room was very clean and the beds comfortable, the staff very nice and helpful my mother was not well and did not want to go into the dining room for dinner the manager on duty at reception was concerned and offered have some soup or a sandwich sent to the room.

Included in ouf tour cost was dinner and although only three choices of starter, main and desert it was all very nice annd very well presented, the breakfast was one of the best we have had well cooked nicely presented.

All in all avery nice stay and the negative reviews must relate to stays whilst functions are taking place and I can inagine it would be a different stay then.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that faces onto the inner courtyard will be quite not sure when functions are tsking...

There was a mix up with our booking and from getting an email confirmation for 2 adults and a child to the hotel computer we managed to lose the child - therefore no bed for our daughter. Quickly resolved once we'd pointed it out. It took 10 mins to organise dinner as reception had no idea what was on the menu or how much it was and the restaurant didn't know their own extension number. The pool was too cold and we had to complain about the party going on in the room next door. The food was mediocre. The staff were friendly enough and the hotel ok but not of 4 star quality.
