Do a little research and get to know about Bradford's history... Check out the Roundheads... Newcastle and Fairfax... Visit the ghost room... It's a great place to visit and I understand there are themed overnight stays! It's interesting and inexpensive for families and there's a park next door for those with children etc.

Free to go in, fantastic to walk round. A good free day out if you are in the area. I was accompanied by my partner who does some work there so got a private tour but the staff seemed attentive.

Its a little jewel, a time capsule starting in the 1300's, each room is another era, not like the typical stuffy NT properties, easy to reach only a few minutes off the M606, take your time or you may accidentally miss a room, would have liked to have a look in some of the locked rooms but what is on show was very good. If you have time you're not too far from the Industrial Museum, another 'must see'.

Visited Bolling Hall on Saturday night with GCUK Paranormal for Ghost Hunt Inge Museum.

This gives access to all of the museum and what a lovely place it is.

The Curator ans his assistant were knowledgeable and helpful throughout the night.

The building is beautiful and the exhibits both interesting and original.

We will certainly go back again as we have unfinished questions for the former owner and his staff who still reside at the Hall in the fabric of the building.

I first visited Bolling Hall as a teenager on a June afternoon in 1966 and ever since it's had a special place in my heart. I think it's because it's seldom, if ever, crowded and consequently the period atmosphere is so powerful. I think it's also because its modest setting among later housing developments not far from the city centre makes the transition from the present day to everyday life in the 17th Century so delightfully sudden. It's very matter-of-fact and almost dismissive of the treasures on display with no hovering caretakers - you can genuinely walk through the rooms for as long as you like and just soak up the atmosphere. The Ghost Room appealed to my imagination in 1966 and thrilled my own small son when I took him some 30 years later.

I would hate someone to travel miles especially to see the place and feel disappointed - there are much grander and better-tended old houses and the small grounds are barely maintained. However for me nothing beats Bolling Hall on a moody autumn afternoon.

Be aware it's closed Mondays and Tuesdays but the great news is that parking is plentiful and admission is free.
