Never stayed in the hotel, dont think i would ever want to. i was at the gym which i paid good money for but never got the value for money the pool as been closed all week and it was the pool that prompted us to join the gym (how foolish we are and to think we cancelled our other gym which was £6 cheaper. not only is the hotel deserted so is the gym. it was closed down in the past and i think it will end up getting closed again and staying shut. the young girl on reception in the gym is the only good thing about this place.( sorry i had to put this in the hotel review because it dosent give me an option to review about the gym)

Dear Nanells,
We were really disappointed to read the comments in your review.
We closed the pool for some routine maintenance (a small teething problem we wanted to get fixed) and it was only in fact closed for three days.
We were disappointed ourselves to have to close the pool at all but we want to make sure everything is right for our customers. As you know, the other facilities remained open throughout.
We're glad the gym hasn't been too busy for you - we have kept our memberships fairly small at first as we want people to have a pleasant time and be able to use all the facilities without having to wait or queue. And ten people squashed into the sauna wouldn't be a great experience!
I'm not sure what you mean about the hotel being deserted - we're glad it seemed quiet, but as the hotel and gym are separate we're not sure why you got this impression (and why it would be a problem to you)?
We hope you will reconsider and stay on at the Highfield Escape - as I say the pool is back open again now and we have no plans to close it again (although I hope you will understand that we may occasionally need to for maintenance - but it's in all our interests to keep closures to a minimum).
If you ever have a problem with your membership - please do speak to us - we want to keep our customers happy, and perhaps we could have worked something out if you had spoken to us directly.

We stayed at the Highfield because we were going to a Birthday Party there. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the rooms (We had a double & 2 family) were spacious and clean and well serviced. It was great to be able to forget taxis and just walk to our room after a great party. The pub which is part of the Hotel serves good real ale as well.
The price was also very good.
I would recoomend this to my friends.

Stayed for 3 nights at £45 per night per room, with "Continental Breakfast" included. I got there and the place was deserted. I was the only one staying there on the 1st night.

The positives were: Spacious room, tea/coffee making facilities in the room, almost new tv with dvd player included, toiletries provided.

On the down side, the room was shabby, with the carpet not properly fitted, cracket tiles in the bathroom, the enamel on the bath was rusting, and the rust had been hidden by a rubber shower mat. The "Continental Breakfast" consisted of some cereals, milk and juice left in a small fridge on the side, a few pieces of fruit in a carrier bag in a fruit bowl, and a loaf of bread with some butter portions and jam portions. There was a toaster to toast the bread, and a kettle to make a drink, but there was nowhere to fill the kettle up. There was no one on reception for almost all of my stay there.

Dont think I will stay here again.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review, we welcome all feedback as it helps us to improve the service we provide to our customers. First of all, we are happy to note the positive comments on your review, thank you. We are sorry that there were some problems with your bath - we have now remedied this (ideally it should have been reported by the chamber maids, and we have asked them to ensure any other problems are also reported promptly). In fact you were not the only guest in the hotel - but we're glad you weren't able to hear any of the other guests! (If we remember rightly, you sometimes arrived and left outside of busy hours?) With regard to the breakfast selection - we have taken on board your feedback and we have increased the selection of items available.
We are building a new business, and so we are continually learning. Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope if you do ever return that you will like the changes we have made.
