We had a quiet room well away from the function suites, only problem on the way to the room was a short set of steps that made taking the trolley to the room difficult.
Restaurant was closed on the night of arrival but the pub in the vilage of Tong was very near and we enjoyed dining there.

Room Tip: Rooms near function area could be noisy.

We recently stayed for 1 night on our way to Leeds bradford airport. When we arrived and saw the setting we were really impressed. Inside the hotel and room was spotless. It was also very quiet. We had had a long day and were looking forward to eating in the restaurant. It was empty and we soon found out why. First we ordered a red wine, which they didn't have and came back with an alternative which was white wine. The waiter looked terrified and was very quietly spoken. We ordered our food which arrived offering us a discount because the chef wasn't happy with the vegetables. We should really have sent it back but we were so tired and hungry that we just ate the discounted food. However the pudding was really good but we were told this was a different chef. Such a shame because the hotel was lovely!

Stayed one night for a wedding. Nice hotel with good service apart from an unbelievable lack of grasp of some of the basics needed to run a hotel. Yet another hotel without a manager and staff firefighting all the way.

We had an early arrival because of 2pm wedding meal. No rooms ready! OK, 2pm is the normal occupancy time but rooms were not available unrtil after this time and why take a booking for an early wedding without accommodating guests.

Wedding meal was OK, except that, unfortunately, every one of the 3 vegetables in the main was inedible. Imagine 50 or so portions all barely cooked! This must be a first.

Breakfast buffet was mayhem. I suggest the hotel has never held breakfast after a wedding. Too many people shoulder to shoulder at tables, food poor with little choice, and that is if there was any, toast needed a lifetime to make (one machine taking a few minutes fir each slice), lovely bread as an alternative but grab it by the hand to cut but make sure you wash your hands beforehand otherwise it is not very hygienic, and watch out for the swinging doors by the staff – this was an accident waiting to happen.

Bar prices higher than those at a normal hotel.

Stayed one night after attending a party nearby. Fab location, feels like it's out in the country, but ideally located for visiting Leeds, Bradford and surrounding area. We went expecting true budget as we paid £45 for 3 of us to stay in one room, but it was nice. Double bed and sofa bed set up. Towels, cups etc only set up for two, so I mentioned at reception. 20 mins later a woman knocked on the door and asked exactly what we needed. We ended up with three extra towels and enough tea and coffee to last a week! Staff friendly and helpful. It seems to be fully staffed by locals too, which meant it was easier to talk to them.

Would not want to sleep on the sofa bed for more than one night, but did not need to anyway. Not exactly a luxury hotel, but book early, get great rates and it is great value for money. One of the others in the area is talking of returning for a night to go on a shopping trip!

Room Tip: Book early to get a great rate

Have stayed at this hotel in the past a number of times and not once, have they rewarded Platinum Club members. Most Holiday Inn's would give you an upgraded room, a free drink, even just a chocolate bar or bottle of water but on all the occasions I've stayed here, nothing has been given. I did raise this after my last visit and received a phone call from the manager to apologise and told me he would make sure we were looked after on our next visit. This did not happen, standard room and no Priorirty Club perks.
In fact, they put us in a room which was 2 rooms down from the hotel's main function room. There was 3 of us in the room with 1 being a 9 month old baby, as you can imagine, we would settle down for the night quite early so putting us next to loud music is not ideal and something they should have forseen. I asked to move rooms which they facilitated and the new room was very quiet which was ideal but we should not have been put in that room in the 1st place when they knew it wasn't suitable for a young family. Why not assign it to the one of the people who are actually attending the wedding/party!

We certainly would not stay at this hotel again as they have had multiple chances to improve their service which they have not done. It's a shame as they have some great staff particularly at breakfast times.

It seems the hotel is concentrating on being a wedding/party venue and know they won't get repeat business from those people so they're happy to just get them in and out without caring about any other guests who are staying with them.

It's all about the simple things, all they had to do was put us in a more suitable room for a family and supply a Priority club perk and I wouldn't have had a bad word to say about them.

Just returned from this hotel, it's was such a cheap rate through priority club it was rude not to, in fact it was that cheap I also checked my parents in on the same rate.

Booked an executive king room, with free movie, water & chocolate bar from the mini bar nice touch.

The room was a bridle suite very old fasioned-ish, I am quite a modern trendy guy so it looked like a scene from the bride of frankinstien (In a funny good way) but was large and comfortable. I do feel though that some improvements need making overall to taps and lighting. The TV sets were appauling and just needed throwing away.

There was a function on when we stayed, and thank the lord we booked a high floor as it was madness down stairs.

The only bad thing was, when we returned from a meal out people were smoking in the porch area of the hotel rather than outside. As a non smoker wasn't pleasent walking through 5-7 chain smokers to get into the reception area and really the reception staff should stop this and make them go outside.

But all in all pleasent stay for the price we paid, if you like the vintage old manor house kind of decor inside and out. This hotel seems to make its money from weddings and functions whch I understand because its very quaint just not much like the holiday inn brand nowadays.
