“Great food and good value - restaurant with real potential”
Reviewed 11 March 2012

This was our first visit, we opted for an early dinner on a Thursday evening and chose the early bird deal - £12.95 for 2 courses. We were the first guests that evening but were warmly greeted by the waitress who clearly explained the options available. The food was of good quality and well presented. This restaurant has the potential to be a real winner and build itself a good reputation with a little more attention to detail. For example the side dish of vegetables needs to be given more thought as it duplicated the potatoes already served on the plate. We will visit again.

“disaster”
Reviewed 18 February 2012

We were welcomed as always, decor lovely. Explanation of the early bird quoted at £12.95 but when bill came it had escalated to £13.95. The starters came out, then the mains came out in two's. We were waiting for the vegetables and our mains were going cold. I was irritated by the waitress who kept reaching over me to get plates from another person yet she had ample space to walk around the table. I think she could do with some serving etiquette. I had an altacation with a waitress about the dessert Eton mess which was totally unnecessary. It is not rocket science to put this together. It wasn't a wonderful meal, our friends meal was dry, I shall have to think twice about going again. Shame really because when it first opened it was lovely

Hi Wendy. Thank you for using Trip Advisor. Unfortunatly it seems you have got yourself in a bit of a muddle, and rightly so with your bad experience you had at the Grouse in SILSDEN!!! I am sure that you meant THAT restaurant as we do not serve an ETON MESS or similar and we do not have an EARLY BIRD MENU, BUT THE Silsden menu does. We do however have a lovely menu with a weekday offer of 2 courses for £10 or 3 courses for £13 which we have extended to evenings Monday to Thursday so I hope you can come and visit us, enjoy what we have to offer and give a proper review in the future. We hope to see you soon.

“Great value local restaurant”
Reviewed 14 February 2012

The Grouse reopened in Autumn 2011 under the new ownership of experienced restauranters (other restaurant in Pudsey). We have now dined there four times and recommended friends - all of whom have been delighted both with the quality/choice and especially the value (particularly their early bird deal). The contemporary ambience matches the style of cooking (modern British) and while the front of house manager is very good she can be let down by the more inexperienced staff resulting in slow and slightly chaotic service at times. But this is our only small quibble. Personally I would also ditch the accompanying side of vegetables which comes with every main; and add one further veg element to each main to create a balanced plate. From our experience and observation most of the side dishes go back largely untouched.
