“Good food, good service plus entertaining dinner”
Reviewed 2 October 2013

Went to Teppanyaki on 1st October 2013 for dinner having booked first.
We needed to change our orders due to the restaurant having finished the lobster and I was expecting the worst as per some earlier reviews, however the staff was very polite and apologised straight away.

Once we sat down for eating we found the food good and seeing the cook on the grill was very cool.

Even when they are not the most organised team in the world they made up by the end of the night by the good food and polite service. They accept tastecards, so I've got two meals for the price of one :)

“Fantastic venue for family celebration.”
Reviewed 29 September 2013

We had booked on a recommendation but had seen the mixed reviews. We were not disappointed. We had a wonderful meal, the food is brought out raw, and you can see that it is all top quality ingredients. It is then cooked by a charismatic chef at your table who included our whole party in the fun and games. We were a mixed party of 15 people including old folk and young teenagers and the atmosphere is suitable for all, dress code relaxed. The only down side for us was that they were a little short staffed so we had to wait to be seated, hence only 4 star for the service. However the staff that were serving were really friendly and thoughtful, they really worked hard. Bottom line is; it was a great experience, food was beautiful, decor a little dated and staff very friendly. Beware, parking was tight, we parked in St. John's multi storey on the main road just two minutes walk. We left the restaurant at 11:30pm and saw a traffic warden slapping tickets on cars like it was his last day on earth....

“Great food and very entertaining evening”
Reviewed 29 September 2013

Had a great family evening here. Staff are very friendly and great with our kids they thought them to use chop sticks and let them try in kimonos which they loved. Food was gorgeous had a set menu and with 25% off at the moment as it's under new management it's good value. The chef was great and made the wait for our meal to be cooked very entertaining and interactive playing games. With the egg shells and juggling etc
Would definitely recommend this restaurant we were all entertained all night very and the staff are very friendly. Looking forward to returning soon

“Under New management 24/9/13”
Reviewed 27 September 2013

i booked a table at 9pm
and was greeted by a great host,
we was shown the menu and sat by the bar, and decided what to eat
i decided to go for the duck main course, my husband didn't want a teppanyaki, so he ordered a sashimi platter and the california rolls, we asked if the teppanyaki and the sushi could be done around the same time, and this was not a problem at all
whilst they prepped our meal, we sat by the bar and had a drink
we could hear a great atmosphere around the table, for diners who had already seated, and its a great place to have a party for whatever occasion...but bear in mind if you like a quiet restaruant, this is not the place for you

prices of items on the menu are not expensive, especially for the portion size (well for my duck for sure)

we was taken to our seats, and my meal was prepared, husband's california was very nice, the sashimi platter surprised us both, there was ingredients we did not expect... black roe/ caviar, unagi and squid, presentation looked beautiful, and the freshness of the ingrdients said it all
my husband does NOT eat unagi, yet when he tried it he said it was very nice (i later found out its the chef's secret recipe- how about a unagi rice box on the menu???)

my duck and pineapple was very nice, a spoon would be great to be served with the chopsticks, as i wanted to swamp my rice in that rich sauce... although the sauce was rich it was still nice and light... like a jus but full of flavour
vegetables nice and crunchy.. but too much for me
at the end of the meal, i was very full. i have been to teppenyaki's before where i have left still feeling hungry

overall i'm very happy to at last find a decent japanese restaurant in leeds
wishing you all the best

p.s for those who are dining , they have kimono's for you to dress up and take photos!!

“great food; memorable service”
Reviewed 15 September 2013

food was very good and taylor made as all 4 of us are quite fastidious about our food. the hostess was extremely courteous and wonderful and helpful. it was a sunday evening so wasn't busy so the atmosphere was perhaps a bit dull but i believe it is quite nice and lively normally. the chef was good too and to our surprise spoke pretty decent english to cater to our needs. the live cooking was a different experience and exciting. the management is new and has been around for only about a week or so but perhaps could do something more to make it a bit more lively. the food, one might feel is a bit on the pricey side but not if you've got one of those restaurant cards that give you a big discount. we had 50% off!! all in all, a very good experience.
