I am a long-standing fan of MintHotels and their previous CityInncarnations and have stayed in Leeds, London and Manchester three or four times in recent months. The rooms and facilities are all the same and if you like the clean crisp rooms and the Mac TV, lack of a bathtub and showergel bolted to the wall (How can anyone object to this?) then you are fine.
Breakfast can be a bit hit and miss, especially during "rush hour" but, to be fair, they do warn you about this and encourage people to dine early. Perhaps waiving the tray charge for early room service breakfasts might be a good idea. I have recenntly always had an autumn break deal for between 69 and 99 pounds for B&B and would never stay at the Mint on a room only basis as breakfast, at 16 pounds per head, isn't worth it.
Leeds does get busy as the 13th floor Skybar is the place to see and be seen, which means the three lifts get very busy on a Saturday evening and I don't think there are stairs that you can use. The access via The Dark Arches is a bit smelly but very atmospheric (Think Oliver and Fagin's gaff) and very safe I can assure you.More
