Travelled to Leeds for a sporting event, and very much wanted to unwind in comfort after a busy day. City Inn ticked all the boxes, from cheap valet parking, through a pleasant lobby with efficient staff, to immaculate rooms with tasteful decor. The in-room Mac with broadband connection is a stylish touch, as is the brilliantly designed bathroom. All the usual touches are there, including bath robes and enormous towels. Mini-bar is well stocked. Everything was spotlessly clean, especially impressive given the all-white decor/linen.

Can't recommend this place highly enough - posh hotel feeling on a value hotel budget. Most definitely worth the extra £20 for the step up from travel lodge.

I stayed at the City Inn for three nights (4-6 July 2010). It is a new hotel in a delightful part of Leeds, in the newly-developed old warehouse sector. The old canal runs right past it, and the old warehouses, mostly developed into hotels, are attractive. On the other side is the main railway station, also clean and attractive (if a railway station can be), and with the windows closed, there is a not peep to be heard from the frequent trains.

Rooms are modern and very comfortable. Showers, no baths, but everything spanking clean, new and functional. Only duvets are provided, which I found impossibly hot, and the pillows are rather hard: nevertheless I slept like a log every night.

Every room has free internet access (why don't more hotels have this?) and a Mac desktop computer, which is a wonderful luxury.

Breakfast is slightly disappointing in that there are no cooked dishes provided, but cooked breakfasts are available on order, and for extra payment - probably better, as the usual buffet breakfasts in most hotels suffer from being slowly stewed for hours...

The bar is right on the canal, and the cheerful barman (from York) quite a character: he remembered our drinks from one day to the next, and was very willing to have an agreeable chat.

The staff were professional and pleasant. But with >300 rooms, service cannot be said to be personalised (apart from the barman). Still, it's really a business hotel, and as such is practically faultless.

I stayed in this hotel for a couple of nights and the service was great. My room over looked the train station, so great location if you're getting here by train, but with the window closed I can't hear a thing which is good!

The hotel has free Wi-Fi though out and each room as an IMac that doubles as the TV. You can use it to surf the internet as well.

The décor is modern and and the room is spacious, and they take the 'less is more' approach.

The staff as a whole are fantastic and polite, except the guy that helped me with my parking. If I didn't know better I'd say he'd taken a sedative (legal or otherwise). It was like talking to a cat.

I recommend this hotel and I'm planning to stay here again. I have stayed in my fair share of hotels for work and travel, and this one definitely rates. £59 a night with breakfast..... sweeeeeeet

We booked the City inn at last minute, and wasn't sure what to expect, it was lovely, and can't wait to go back, breakfast wasn't the best iv'e ever had, but nice enough, only down side is the parking charges should have free parking for guests, after all they are getting money off us to stay there!!! apart from that a lovely weekend away.

Just stayed the one night and really cant recommend this hotel enough. It's worth walking from the station just for the very unusual route under the tunnel and seeing the canal. Once you are there the staff could not be more helpful. Lost the confirmation that breakfast was included? Sorted instantly. Telly/computer had no sound? Someone is up in the room in two minutes. Need some extra wrapping for an anniversary present you must get home in one peice? Someone goes to the shop to get it for you! Breakfast was terrific, superb quality food(yup vergetarian black pudding!) and again service was first rate. Nice view over the canal and room was spotless....and when we asked for a cab to to a restaurant, they even told us a short cut telling us it was quicker to walk. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Nice bar on 13th floor but there is a great pub just across from the hotel too which has great beers and bands and really good home made pies.

Hotel is situated in the Granary Wharf beside the canal & railway station with the main shopping areas around a 10 minute walk away. I was surprised to find a bright spacious room with all mod cons on the 9th floor with views of Leeds from a floor to ceiling window. The breakfast room is also bright with views outside. A good buffet selection and hot food is cooked to order. While I was there I became ill & had to be taken to hospital. The Hotel Manager and other staff involved could not have done any more for me and I am very grateful for their concern and help.
