Clean, tidy, excellent breakfast and good service. Stayed for a night while attending a wedding at the very nearby De Vere Outlton Hall. Bathroom has shower only, but rooms are well thought out with international plug socket, flatscreen tv with freeview. Heating worked well once turned on (needs your keycard or another card in the activation slot).

No complaints whatsoever as fantastic value and location. Will return.

We stayed here for one night on our way up to Northumberland from the south of England. We arrived at 10pm and left at 10am the next day. We couldn't have asked for anything better for a stopover hotel. The room was ready, clean, modern and comfortable. The check-in was rapid. The breakfast the next morning was lovely - there was a highchair for our daughter and plenty that she and we liked to eat. The staff recommended some nearby swings for us to stretch our legs at before starting off again (which were excellent swings) and were very sweet to our daughter. All in all a perfect hotel for what we needed at an extremely reasonable price.

This was an absolutely wonderful surprise.
The staff were all friendly and always happy to help and give advice.
The rooms were very clean and extremely comfortable. We had a great couple of nights here and the breakfast provided was very tasty.
We will definately be staying here again if we are in the area.
If you are looking for somewhere with great links to Leeds and the surrounding area at an affordable price and an enjoyable and relaxing stay then i highly recommend the Holiday Express leeds east.
Thanks to all the staff there.

I arrived late and as usual the welcome was friendly. As usual the room was clean and comfortable. The shower was excellent with a good flow and plenty of warm water. Strongly recommend

Holiday Inn Express - what more to say? Accomodation layout is 'standard'; breakfast choice is 'standard'. Staff are very helpful and friendly.
Very limited range of drinks available in the hotel bar but a couple of excellent local pubs within 5 minutes walk, although there is also a Toby Jug restaurant/bar on the same site as the hotel.
Great location to stay visiting the National Coal Museum at Wakefield as only 5m away.
Only negative is that the bed mattress is very soft although the staff said these mattresses are one year old.

We have just spent a very pleasant weekend at this hotel. We had room 106 on the ground floor next to reception and it was very quiet which was what we had requested. I was a bit worried prior to our visit incase this was a hotel used by the Leeds 'clubbers' , but I needn't have worried as we didn't hear any noise at all.

The room itself was typical Holiday Inn style. King size bed with plain white linen and four pillows (we asked for two extra and they were with us within minutes). There was also a sofa bed as this was a family room. We booked this although there was only two of us as we know from experience these rooms are slightly larger. The room was very clean, as was the bathroom. There was liquid hand soap for the handbasin and multipurpose hair and shower gel in a dispenser in the shower. There are no baths at this location but the shower was clean and powerful enough for our needs.

There are no drawers in the bedroom, nor is there a closed wardrobe. It is just a rail with hangers on. There is a large desk area with a shelf at one side, and again a bedside shelf but no drawers. As we were only here for a weekend this didn't cause us any problem but I think it could become a problem if you were staying more that a couple of days. We basically hung up what we could and left the rest of stuff in our weekend bag. The blackout curtains did their job perfectly and aided in a good nights sleep. There was a 26" Samsung digital TV and the remote was on the desk. We were glad of this as we watched the Carling Cup final in our room.

The 'free' breakfast was very good. It is served until 11.30 am weekends and 9.30am weekdays. There was a choice of four cereals, grapefruit, yogurts, pastries, toast and a hot selection of sausage, scambled egg and beans. There was also various fruit juices and tea, coffee, hot chocolate etc. There were always staff aound replenishing the food and clearing tables.

On Sunday we wanted to go to the White Rose shopping centre (about 8 miles away) and the receptionist printed us some driving instructions. She was extremely helpful answering any questions we had with knowledge and patience.

The bus into Leeds stops just down from the hotel and takes about 20mins. The cost is £2.80 and it goes into the bus station. You can get the 189 or the 460. In my opinion it is much better using a bus or taxi than trying to park in Leeds city centre. A taxi costs approx. £10.00. We were aware that the location was 'out of town' when we booked.

There is a Toby Carvery on site next to the hotel but we didn't use this. On Sunday evening we went to the Chinese restaurant, China Dragon Red, just up from the hotel. Their advertising said there was an 'all you can eat buffet' for £13.50 (£14.50 Fri/Sat). We went in and got a table but it wasn't actually a buffet in the sense that I know it. You ordered food from the menu and it was cooked for you but you could order as much as you liked. It felt a bit strange to us but we thought we would give it a go. We had soup, prawn toast, satay skewers to start, followed by crispy duck and pancakes then I had lemon chicken and hubby had a Schezwan house special. The bill with a couple of pints of Kronenberg and a tip was £40.00.

If the hotel is not too busy you can ask for a late checkout and they will oblige if they can. I can honestly say all the staff were very helpful and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room near reception if you want peace and quiet. If you are going clubbing ask for...

We wanted a place with parking with easy access to Leeds, this was just right - excellent staff - amazing value for money and spotlessly clean, we had the Toby inn next door which meant a good value place to eat - what we liked perhaps most of all was the quiet - no disturbances at all for a three night stay.We go to Leeds regularly and wouldnt stop anywhere else now - Leeds city centre is a bit far so not the best choice for the town centre but apart from that we can only give it five stars.
