The Met. Nice on the outside and friendly staff, but....
Paid for an exec room, and chose one on the top floor. The room was clean, but tired. Furniture was very dated. No wifi access in rooms which is unforgivable for a business hotel in this day and age. Plumbing was noisy. If I was paying half the price I actually paid then I might have been more forgiving. However for a premium price, this is not a premium hotel. In particular I cannot understand the 4 star rating.

Dear JimS

Thank you for your review, it is through these reviews that we are able to constantly assess and monitor our current offering to our guests.

It is disappointing to hear that you did not have a 100% enjoyable stay. Here at The Met the positive experience of our guests is of the upmost importance and to hear on this occasion we fell short of that is most disappointing.
Please be assured that we are currently going through a continual process to bring our rooms up to the standard which the modern day traveller expects.
I do hope that we are able to welcome you back to The Met at some point in the near future so we are able to show to you the true quality that we pride ourselves on

Kind Regards

Dear Ian T,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your experience. It is through these reviews that we are able to constantly check our current service and offering.

It was most disappointing to read that you will not be returning to The Met Hotel.
We are currently in the midst of an ongoing development plan which will see all of our bedrooms and facilities upgraded and refurbished within the next 3 months. This is also due to include the TV’s which you made reference too

I do hope that you may return to us in the future so that you may judge these changes for yourself

We booked our room at the last minute and it was the cheapest central hotel available. The beds were comfortable, the room and bathroom were spacious (but we were given a 3-bedded room for two people). The furniture is old but you might argue this serves to make the rooms more homely than the more commercial chains. A good quality hair dryer, iron and ironing board are all in the room.
However, there was always a queue at reception as there was often only one person serving, we often had to go up in the lift before coming down as there is only one, the TV in the room is archaic and the wedding reception going on downstairs kept us awake until 12.20 a.m. Similarly, the breakfast was okay but nothing outstanding - no mushrooms, there's a notice that fried eggs can be ordered at the counter but nothing about this on the table so you don't get to know this until you're already serving yourself. The waiters bring tea & coffee but it's DIY for toast - I've actually had better breakfasts and service in B&Bs.
Overall, then, everything is pretty average with some aspects missing that you now get from cheaper hotels like the Premier Inn (including the good night guarantee) so how this hotel achieved 4 stars, I can't imagine - it's certainly not luxurious.

We shouldn't have read other reviews about The Met. We have just had a wonderful stay in a lovely, friendly hotel in a great location. Our rooms in The Met were cleaned to a very high standard, it had all the facilities we needed, was really warm and had wonderful comfy beds. The breakfasts on both mornings were adequate to keep us going for our long retail therapy sessions. We had no reason to complain at all about any part of our stay and cannot understand others who nit pick at such trivial things. The girls on reception were always busy but were also very polite and helpful. There was a wedding party on both the Friday and Saturday afternoon/evenings which meant the dinning hall was never quiet, however everyone was accommodated with ease and queues kept to a minimum. Would we stay again. Definitely, without a doubt and are already making plans for next year. Well done to The Met.

I have stayed at this hotel 3 times before and it has always been great but felt abit disappointed this visit.
Check in was quick, booked on the day of arrival so we only had a small but cosy double room Although it had a strange fusty smell to it Bathroom was small couldnt quite get the kettle under the tap as the sink was small it didnt fit.
Breakfast was great but no-one waiting to show us to a table and tables were not all cleaned. Staff at reception were lovely location is excellent n hotel was clean.

Before I go any further I want to say how easily pleased my partner and I are, it doesn't take much to please us. Which is what's bizarre about the met in Leeds. It's so close to being a great hotel but there's too many little things that ruin it, dodgy stains on curtains chipped paint on windows lack of staff during Monday breakfast, cracked teapots etc all small things that ruin the experience eradicate these small things, work on the attention to detail and you have a cracker of a hotel on your hands.

Rooms basic but ok. Breakfast ok. Manager rude. Better hotels in Leeds for same price. Parking awful considering they charge £20 per day, spaces not even big enough for a smart car. Feels like it's been turned into a conference centre.

Dear Frequent T,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your experience. It is through these reviews that we are able to constantly check our current service and offering.

I am sorry to hear that you did not have the most enjoyable experience whilst staying with us. We value all feedback from guests and as a business we are constantly looking to better ourselves and adapt to best meet the needs of the modern day guest.
It was most disappointing to read that a number of factors affected you stay with us & this is certainly not reflective of the standard to which we usually operate.
The charge for our car park to which you made reference has been carefully compared to other City centre hotel car parks and we have found it to be very competitive, however we will take your comments on board and make an assessment to see if we are able to reduce this cost.
Your comments will allow us to assess our offering and adapt to ensure that we better fulfil our guests requirements in the future.

I do hope that you may return to us in the future so that you may judge these changes for yourself
