“Pleasant stay, great location”
Reviewed 22 March 2009

Choose this hotel as it was ideally situated in central Leeds and near the Grand Theatre. Friendly staff and valet parking made check in easy and our room was available early for us. Comfortable, clean room with everything you would expect at a Marriott Hotel. Great buffet breakfast with plenty of choice and hot, fresh food. Great location and would definately return and recommend.

I booked the Marriott after reading all the positive reviews...but after staying there I'm really not sure what all the fuss is about. It is a decent hotel; certainly with friendly staff but with a decor and fittings which seem very old and dated. My room was quite small and there was little hot water in the morning. The TV was also, small, a CRT, and had a poor selection of channels (Sky Sports, but very little else other than BBC1 - Five). It was a poor 4 star hotel in my opinion, although I will admit one of the main reasons for me booking, the health club, was small but well maintained with friendly staff and a nice (albeit only-c. 12m) swimming pool and jacuzzi. Internet was relatively slow and very expensive at £15 a day - certainly not more than 1Mbps, far too slow for my business purposes and felt like an embezzlement!

Nice hotel, excellent city centre location. Reception and staff friendly. We were with a conference (elsewhere) and found the meal arrangements disappointing. Good sized room but the heating didn’t work, offered another room or a heater accepting the latter. Think it was an on going problem as we found a heater in the wardrobe and then disappointed we had been put in the room in the first place.

Booked this hotel as it was on special offer about £69 per night with breakfast and it had one of the best breakfast i've ever had.

Hotel room was nice. We ended up with a room with two double beds. Only needed one but it didnt bother us.

Only gripe was our view was of the front of the hotel and it wasnt all that but then again i didnt spend all my time looking out the window.

Location is excellent as it is walking distance from the train station and walking distance from the rest of the city centre.

My husband and I stayed for 1 night in Leeds to attend a concert. No impersonal city-centre hotel welcome here, but charm, warmth and hospitality. Our room was first class and everything met our expectations. We returned to reception for useful advice and directions, delivered with complete courtesy. The following morning breakfast was also first rate, and although self serve was a bit slow, the meal was truly excellent. When we spoke to the receptionist at check out, we said we'd return to a Marriott and we suggested our next one to visit would be in Strasbourg, but she recommended Bournemouth instead! 5 out of 5 recommendation and undoubtedly the best place to stay in Leeds.

Fantastic from the moment we walked in.
Reception and check in was excellent..We was in our room by 11.15am...Room was a good size, very clean and soooo many pillows...The pool was closed but we still used the other facilities..Great after a bit of shopping.
After a good night sleep we enjoyed a good choice of breakfast..Everything was fresh and topped up....
When booking we advised it was Our wedding anniversary,at check in we were congratulated then within 5 mins of getting in our room were were brought a chilled complimentry bottle of wine...It was such a lovely surprise and touch.
We would recommend this hotel to anyone...It is central, comfy and fantastic staff.....We will be back...

We booked through the hotel's website and had a good price of £88 including breakfast; so we could not complain about the cost. One of the reasons we have stayed in the Marriott chain in the past is due to the pleasant staff and this hotel was not exception. The reception was very welcoming and service at breakfast was with a smile. The hotels have a friendly atmosphere.

The room was adequate with one of the best hotel beds we have had, it was a join to sleep in. We had a room on the 5th floor and it was peacefully quiet.

It was however a small room, very functionally and tastefully decorated but had an air of being a little old-fashioned with the heavy furniture, despite the modern lamps, pictures and cushions. It felt quite impersonal.

Definately will continue to stay in Marriott's throughout the country but may be tempted to try another hotel in Leeds next time.
