“Room 111 should go into Room 101”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 December 2013

We arrived here for an overnight stay on a National Holiday budget mystery weekend break and were very pleasantly surprised with both the condition of the exterior and the initial reception area, we have stayed in a good few Britannia Hotels and this initially did not fall into the lack of maintenance look that tends to be the norm with their Hotels but then the bedroom... ours was Room 111 and though generally in a good state of repair the window unit looked close to falling out and was surrounded by black mould and gave no installation to either the cold or heavy traffic noise outside as the Hotel where we were situated was just feet away from a busy roundabout. Thankfully the traffic subdued when it came time to bed or otherwise we would have asked to move and we kept out a lot of the cold air coming in by pressing the curtain into the window unit. The room was clean otherwise, though there were signs of black mould again around the bathroom sink, the shower was operated from the bath mixer taps so was like Russian roulette to either get the shower valve to stay in place or to get the correct water temperature. In the dining area the meals were the usual Britannia self service arrangement and there was plenty of meal options for evening dinner and plenty of choice of breakfast items. Any food items that ran out were quickly replaced and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout. With the seating area being in the reception area close to the automatic entrance doors which stayed open for a good while on someone coming in the area was cold a lot of the time. All in all a suitable Hotel for a one night stay.

Room Tip: Rooms either side or above & below of room 111 will face the busy traffic roundabout and the win...

Thank you for your feedback, I was very sorry to learn that not everything went according to plan and at this stage can only apologise for any frustrations or upset caused. I will certainly address the issues raised as you should expect a certain standard and this was not delivered. I would like to assure you that this is certainly by no means our usual standard of quality or service, and I would hope this one off experience has not tainted your view of our hotel.

Please contact me personally when next staying in the city and I will do what I can to further enhance your stay.

Kind regards,

Simon Powell

Just arrived home from a christmas break with David Urquhart staying at The Britannia Leeds Hotel. We had an excellent stay, food and staff was first class. The bedrooms are a little on the small size and could do with a small chest of drawers as there are no drawer space in the rooms but we did manage fine. We look forward in going again in the future.I have just read the other revues and agree with everything they said.

Room Tip: choose a quiet room at the back of the hotel as the trafic can be a little noisy

Spent Christmas and Boxing Day at the hotel. Excellent staff, the ladies in the dining room and a special mention for Ian who was very helpful. Everyone worked very hard, lots of food and hot drinks all day.
Area isn't the best, but the bus depot under the underpass made it easy to get into Leeds.

Having read some bad reviews about the hotel, I was pleasantly surprised to find excellent food and friendly, helpful staff. Added touches of fudge and shortbread in the room was a kind gesture. Bucks fizz, mulled wine and coffee and mince pies were also given free of charge and our overall experience was positive. Do not believe all you read on trip advisor!.

A great xmas break in this hotel. Staff were all very helpful and pleasant and the food was plentiful and excellent quality. Rooms were clean and comfortable if a little on the small side. The lounge was also small for the number of guests staying there but on the whole, it was a good experience. There was entertainment on every night of our stay which was of a reasonable standard.
