The old adage that you get what you pay for is proved yet again. Britannia hotels can offer very low prices but this can also mean matching quality and service. Here, the general ambience is a bit better than some other hotels in the chain. The standards of cleanliness were good even if well worn in places. The overworked staff also seemed both helpful and happy even when coping with very large numbers of guests. Food was of an acceptable standard even if very predictable and not likely to win any awards but remember the low prices again!. Breakfast was fine with food quickly replenished but chips on the breakfast buffet said a lot about the place and the demands it sets out to meet. Think bus parties and large numbers to process very quickly.
Our double room was particularly small and no larger than a normal single with very little space and the bed right up against the wall on one side. The walls are also paper thin with every word and sound from adjacent rooms far too easily heard. This was a problem when noisy young people came in after a night out in the early hours.More
