Stayed one night, having chosen the hotel on price and TA reviews. Very friendly lady at check-in. We had requested an upstairs room when booking but asked for a ground floor room when checking in. This request was met immediately and with no fuss - a very good start.

The room was excellent - very nicely arranged, spotlessly clean and very quiet. The bathroom was also spotless - really liked the heated floor and the heated mirror. If I was being really critical, the shower was fine but not very powerful and decals were missing from the shower control and mixer tap. However, these things did not bother us in the slightest.

A request for an iron was met with immediately and checkout was very smooth.

In summary; negatives - for us, none. The positives; friendly, efficient, quiet and excellent value. Would we go back? Yes.

This is a great hotel if you're visiting the Leeds or Yorkshire area and are looking for a quiet & comfortable hotel with great food & service. The staff are all friendly & welcoming. The rooms have all been recently refurbished and are well equipped with good size TV's, extremely comfortable beds and superb bathrooms (including heated floors and no-fog mirrors). The Watermill restaurant and bar area is very comfortable. There is a good range of beers (Black Sheep) on cask and a wide selection of wines, but the food is the masterpiece! The menu is extensive with many locally sourced ingredients, always a great choice of specials depending upon what's in season. All freshly cooked from scratch and it tastes wonderful. The locally sourced steaks are always cooked to perfection and the haddock & chips is wonderfully presented on newspaper - it looks, feels, smells and tastes great. There's no pool or gym, but there're some good walking & running routes if you're looking to keep fit. Wi-Fi is complimentary and has a good signal throughout the hotel.

Room Tip: If you want to spoil yourself ask for an upgrade to a superior room (at extra cost), but the standar...

This is the 2nd time me and my boyfriend have stayed here and we'd come again! Its just out of the way so that youre not in busy areas but only half an hour from york and harrogate etc so great if you want piece and quiet with the chance to go for days out :)
We stayed in a superior room from friday to sunday and it cost £137 for 2 nights in a superior room, we didnt bother with breakfast because we got it when we went out. Bed is so comfy, as are the pillows! Love the corner couch too!
The tv and dvd are handy and the bathroom with the heated floor is lovely! Air con worked a treat.
Really cant fault it! Everyone was lovely, we didnt as for housekeeping as nothing needed doing but came back from a day out with a bag in front of our door with fresh towels, an extra toilet roll and tea and coffee supplies in it which was really sweet! Love this hotel :)

we only stayed one night and the hotel was found to be excellent. we were there for a family reunion in total 12 members attended and we a ?ll found the hotel better than we expected in all aspects. Our only gripe was that the television system in the hotel had been broken for two days and the fixer had to come from London WHY ??? are their no engineers in the area who could have repaired the system. Also it was cup final day. But otherwise it was a great place to stay good food good rooms nice and friendly staff . Thank you .

Room Tip: all rooms are of a very high standard.

Really easy to find and accessible to main routes. Lovely room, exceptionally clean with heated bathroom floor - don't find that feature very often. Bed very comfortable too. Accommodating staff and a warm welcome.

We stayed only one night here with our small dog and we were all made very welcome. The room was lovely and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. The bathroom had a wonderful heated floor and mirrors. We enjoyed an evening meal in the restaurant and breakfast was good too. We will definately stay again when we come to this area.

Stopped here for two nights recently. Very welcoming and helpful staff. Bedroom was clean and spacious, with the bathroom well equipped.
This is what I would call a "peaceful" hotel. The old A1 is little used except at peak times, and there is nothing else nearby likely to cause any noise issues. The bedrooms, particularly those at the back of the hotel, are exceptionally quiet. I would imagine those at the front are similar as they are all triple glazed.
The restaurant was exceptional and very good value. Decor was a little strange.
A couple of minor issues - don't expect a nice view - the quality of our TV picture was poor, fixed on wide screen and zoomed perspective.
All in all though, a comfortable bargain if you are in need of somewhere to stay near Leeds/Harrogate/York.

Room Tip: End of corridors probably the quietest. Standard rooms are same size as superior. Probably not worth...
