We wished to visit York, Leeds, and other attractions in the area, and found that this hotel had excellent reviews on the internet. We booked a 4-night ''Leisure Break,'' which was marvellous in every way. Convenient location near to A1(M) and M1 motorways, but with no traffic noise. Micklefield railway station, a mile away, has free parking and an hourly service to York, which is an easy way to the city centre.
Our room was of generous size, recently decorated, with comfortable bed and high quality bed linen. Our only quibble was lack of any drawers. The bathroom seemed recently completely refurbished and was spotless, with good quality towels and toiletries. We had breakfast and dinner each day. Good quality ingredients, served piping hot, with a wide choice. Imaginative dinner menu, and good choice of hot and cold breakfast. Friendly staff who all worked well together as a team.
There is no lift, but there are ground floor bedrooms.
If we have another holiday in the area, we will stay here again.

I got to the hotel very late at night but the receptionist was very helpful, went straight into my room (right at the end of the corridor, a plus in my eyes as there was nobody walking past) and when I walked in I was very impressed. A great sized room, a massive bed and lots of tea, coffee and hot chocolate. The bathroom was a great size too with a good sized bath and a lovely shower.
The only downside was that the hotel is on a ring road and it seemed that we were always on the wrong side for the places we wanted to visit, but overall a great stay and we will be staying there again in the near future.

From first impressions on a website it appears to be just another roadside travel hotel, but the Milford Lodge is far superior. The rooms are very comfortable, beautiful nights sleep in really comfortable bed, furnishings and decor in line with a 4/5 star london hotel, good choice of menu, well cooked and presented food, served by very friendly staff. Having stayed in some very very nice hotels around the world, in terms of comfort, service and quality I'd be hard pushed to criticise anything.

This hotel is only 3 miles from our home, yet we had never even had a drink there until last weekend.

My elderly dad lives in Scotland and we paid for two nights B n B so that he could spend time in West Yorkshire. We asked for a disabled room to make life easier for him and his wife.

The location is excellent, less than a mile from the A1 junction (Selby Road) and less than 5 miles from the M1 junction. It's fairly isolated, so you'd near a car to get there, or to visit any other villages. Car park is a good size, but fairly open and no real security.

Reception is smart, light and bright. Staff were pleasant and efficient, particularly in the restaurant.

Room was a good size, and the disabled bathroom was excellent.

Food was agreeable. Extremely well priced. I had a special of 'skin on' cod steak which was delicious. We ate here both nights and the Sunday roast meal was less impressive but still excellent value. The A la Carte menu is £16.95 for 3 courses, which I feel for this type of ambiance is good value.

Fairly short wine list, not particularly cheap. They had Black Sheep draft bitter on the bar, but unfortunately had run out when I inquired. A decent pint of Guinness had to suffice

Nearby is the village of Ledsham, which has a lovely church and excellent pub (Chequers). Another village is Fairburn which overlooks Fairburn Ings a renowned RSPB site.

My Dad, who is one of the most critical people I ever wish to meet, was very pleased with his stay, so that says it all for me.

I'm sure my wife and I will eat here again, the restaurant is worth the visit alone.

They do weddings too, and have a package at £3000 which seemed reasonable

Why only 4, and not a score of 5? Well, they need at least one hand pulled beer on tap, they need a better/more extensive wine list. And probably they should have some sort of access control on the gate to give peace of mind regarding vehicle security.

Overall though, way, way better than my experiences with either the Quality Hotel or Holiday Inn (Garforth) they are competing with.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front of the hotel facing the old A1

This is a nice hotel and very convenient, just off the Motorway. Beds are big and we had a great nights sleep. Friendly staff and comfortable environment. Plenty of parking. We have stayed here many times and find it incredible value for money.

I have used this hotel for small groups of clients to meet in for a workshop and have always found the hotel very good in providing a relaxed environment with friendly staff. Will use again when in the Leeds area.
