“Front of house, bar, resteraunt”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 August 2012

We chose this hotel not only for it's beautiful location but for the fact that we were charmed by the excellent receptionist Kelly Horner who showed us around and made us feel welcome. She was informative and helpful at all times and deserves great merit.

The food in the resteraunt was also excellent as was the dinner service. Only marred by a breakfast waiter who checked his watch every time we arrived. We are on holiday and don't want to be treated like an inconvenience!

Beautiful views and comfortable room, to be highly recommended

Room Tip: Executives are worth the extra!

Thank you for your kind review. I have passed your comments onto Kelly, our receptionist who was over the moon with your comments - she even blushed! I have also spoken to our breakfast team to address the clock watching... We look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel when hopefully you will have more time to explore Golden Acre Park and our leisure club. Kind regards, Stewart Woodeson

Room was Tatty at best, slow amateur service in bar, and noisy into early hours due to staff outside on cigarette breaks. Not ideal as a place to stay before getting on an early morning flight. Worst hotel I've ever stayed in....

Thank you for your review and I apologise that your stay with us was not as you would have expected. I have addressed the staff issue in the bar and apologise that the bedroom was not up to the standard you would have expected. We are on a rolling bedroom refurbishment programme at present and although this will continue ad infinitum, I apologise that we were unable to place you in a refurbished bedroom. I hope that we will be able to welcome you back in the future when your stay will be remembered for all the right reasons. Our balcony rooms in particular have fantastic views of our rear wildlife gardens, a conscious wildlife initiative, putting an area aside to promote hedgehiogs, butterflies and bees. There is also access to Golden Acre Park, Leeds' 130 acre wildlife reserve which has fantastic walks and demonstration gardens which are a must on any visit to the area. Kind regards, Stewart Woodeson.

We stayed for two nights in July at Mercure Leeds Parkway. The receptionist was really helpful. The location is ideal as it is near Leeds airport. The room was spacious, clean with tv, tea and coffee facilities. The English breakfast was excellent with fried eggs, scrambled eggs, bacon, orange juice etc....Food was refilled everytime that the items were being taken. If I had to be picky I would point out that the bathroom shower head is fixed, but one can still manage to get a decent shower.

We also dined at the hotel restaurant and the food was excellent although prices were a bit too high. Overall it was a positive experience, a place that I would recommend to my friends.

Thank you for such a kind review! I am very pleased that our staff have excelled once again and that our facilities and service met your expectations. Admitedly our food is not the cheapest in the area however we find it hard to compete with lower priced venues as we pride ourselves on providing freshly prepared food with an excellent quality at all mealtimes and obviously this increases the costs to ourselves. Once again, thank you for such a kind review and we look forward to welcoming you back in the very near future. Kind regards, Stewart Woodeson

Stayed for two night break to celebrate our anniversary and visit some nearby attractions. Lovely welcome after a long drive and efficient, informative check in.

Our room was bright with a lovely big window that overlooked the parkland that surrounds the hotel. It was a shame that we didn’t get time to explore it really as it looked worth a walk. Unfortunately the big room only had a 4’6” bed despite the space being for a 5’ bed. The bed was also on wheels so when you leant against the headboard, the bed moved! The mattress was in need of renewing also as it was sinking in places (room 231).

We had dinner reservations in Leeds City Centre and Bradford for the two nights we were there so didn’t try the restaurant for dinner but the friendly receptionist happily ordered a taxi for us which delivered us into Leeds for £11 – we drove to Bradford.

Breakfast was disappointing in parts. Firstly, the member of staff at the door questioned “Have you paid” rather than asking “do you have an inclusive rate”. We had paid for breakfast on arrival rather than booking and their list had obviously not been updated. I felt it was rather rude to doubt us so directly and publically and it irritated me. On the second day the member of staff was borderline rude and asked us to “wait there while I check” to which I refused and went and sat down! Not the best start to the day…

Breakfast content was hit and miss. It took ages to get a cup of tea, our table had no milk and cutlery was missing from lay-up indicating to me that it had not been reset properly. My other half had some difficulty in communicating that he wanted porridge made with soya milk but we got there in the end! Cooked breakfast was good though and poached eggs were lovely!

We enjoyed the leisure centre with pool and Jacuzzi.

Overall, I would visit again. All the staff bar the breakfast staff were efficient and polite but I do think that organisation of breakfast needs a good look at.

Room Tip: I imagine that it would be worthwhile booking an upgraded room at this hotel. Ask for a room at the...

Thank you for such a lovely review of the hotel - I am particularly pleased with your comments regarding the accommodation and our reception staff - we also pride ourselves on our food quality at the hotel so I shall make our chefs aware of your comments which I know they will be pleased with. As we replenish our breakfast hot food on a 'little and often' basis to ensure that we only have fresh food of a good standard available, sometimes this means there is a short wait whilst we replenish stocks after a 'rush' at the buffet so this may explain why there was a slight delay. I apologise for the host's comments but am pleased that the remainder of the staff were so efficient and polite. I hope that we will be able to welcome you back in the near future once again! Kind regards, Stewart Woodeson

I used this Hotel as we were flying from Leeds/Bradford airport. The deal with parking for the two weeks was very good. On arrival the Lady on reception was so friendly it set the scene for the Hotel. The room was excellent, very clean and spacious.
As we were travelling early the nexxt day, we opted for a meal in the bar area, the Brasserie Burger was superb and well worth a try.

Overall a excellent Hotel and would use again.

Had an amazing stay at the hotel, my husband and myself had a night away from our children(thanks to my mum), and wanted somewhere away from Leeds city centre, so this seemed like the perfect place. On arrival the hotel looks gorgeous and it does not disapoint on the inside. The receptionist was so freindly and helpful, and when we were shown our room it was beautiful. Really big and light and had a lovely view over the grounds. The pool was nice and was a extra bonus to our little break away. We slept really well and to say the size of the hotel the noise level was very small. Breakfast was lovely and the staff were all very helpful. Overall our stay was really nice and would definatley recommend this hotel.

stayed overnight after a birthday party. Room was a good size and we had a balcony. The receptionist was lovely her smile could have melted ice. Breakfast was brilliant and because it was Sunday breakfast was served till 12 so you could have a lie in and breakfast. Bathroom was good and pleanty of complimentary toiletries. we were there for a party and the food was very good and the staff very attentive however we found the bar staff to be very slow.

Room Tip: we had a room on the first floor at the back

Thank you for such a lovely review. With so many balcony bedrooms overlooking quiet parkland, we find that this is a great way to help our guests unwind and explore what is undoubtedly one of the best hotel settings in the area. Did you manage to find time to take a stroll in the huge Golden Acre Park which backs onto the hotel? If not, then hopefully on your next visit... Once again thank you for your kind review and we look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Kind regards, Stewart Woodeson
