This hotel is a joy to stay in. Old fashion style and service. The customer service is excellent. Rooms lovely décor and very clean. Location couldn't be better for a Leeds City break. Would be my first choice again for a stay in Leeds.

Room Tip: Front room over looking city square and high up for a good view.

Very good welcome and efficient check in, but it all went a bit down hill from there. My room was a bit grubby, and as the air conditioning wouldn't work I managed to open a balcony window a couple of inches out of a window frame covered in years of dust and grime.

The bar is very smart, and the hot buffet breakfast was very good, only to be spoilt by the dreaded course salt and peppercorn grinders, and a waitress taking my plate whilst I was still eating. She may just as well have said 'your times up, you can go now'!

I'd mark it average at best, and I never stay at average hotels twice.

Room Tip: Ask to inspect it first!

Not stayed here for around 4 years but a regular leeds visitor. Decided to try the hotel and allocated a family room that actually had a full sitting area not unlike a suite.

Nice touch and unexpected but a good price and superb breakfast served in the room. Even the toast was hot unlike many room service experiences in other hotels.

The Queens is a large hotel very centrally located overlooking the city square in the heart of Leeds. The hotel is very easily reached if travelling by either train or bus. We got the bus from the airport which stopped right outside the hotel. The train station is also just around the corner. Staff were extremely friendly and pleasant, and the rooms were very comfortable and clean. Our room had a lovely view over the square. We stayed on a room only basis which suited fine as there are loads of cafés nearby to suit all kinds of tastes and budgets. Accommodation was a little on the expensive side but we were there for one of the busiest events - the Grand Depart of the Tour de France - so that was to be expected, and for that weekend the location was perfect. Would have no hesitation in returning to stay again.

Initially tried to park outside the Queens to find out where I needed to park but the outside was either full of taxis or coned off so unfortunately I had to drive around the block to find somewhere to stay.

Checking in was pleasant and straight forward, the rooms are slightly on the small side but suited for a single nights stay.

I only found a double lift and waiting for the lift especially in the mornings around breakfast time takes an age and it's just as easy to use the stairs, though not ideal when you're on the 5th floor with luggage and injured ankle ligaments :(

I asked for a copy of my bill to be E-mailed to me and I was also told that I would have a copy pushed under my door in the morning, sadly neither happened.

The breakfast selection was varied and okay but then came the wait for the lift again.

Overall nothing really to complain about, just nothing really to shout about.

Dear RichardPrince

Thank you for taking the time to post a review of your stay, I was sorry to read that you had difficulty parking, as you can imagine as we hold such a prime central location in the city parking is at a premium and based on a first come first served basis.

I will certainly address the comments made regarding a copy of your bill and will ensure a copy is forwarded to you with immediate effect.

Thank you again for your constructive feedback and hope to have the opportunity of welcoming you back some time in the future.

Stayed here as part of a business conference in early June. Hotel is well positioned in the centre of Leeds. Room was very big, well furnished and huge amounts of wardrobe space. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room, hairdryer and safe. The elevators felt a little old and so chose to take the stairs. Turned out to be a good decision as a colleague was trapped in the lift one morning and was in there for quite some time! Breakfast was good though little consideration for vegetarians. The meal at the conference itself was very disappointing. There were very few people who said that they enjoyed the meal. The parking was a little confusing and I ended up parking at a public car park near the train station for the two days I was there. Parking is expensive wherever you park.

Having lived in Leeds for many years and recently returned as a visitor for a concert I was not expecting more than adequacy for my overnight stay at the Queens, which always looked to me a little tired from the outside. I was pleasantly surprised however that the décor was fresh although very much in the Art Deco style, and the rooms clean and modernised. External noise was minimal. Staff were extremely attentive and pleasant, and overall the accommodation was excellent value for money.

Room Tip: Higher floors are probably less noisy, although I was surprised how little traffic/train noise there...
